 An insect

I found this insect/worm looking thing and i though if i could feed them to my lizards. i dont have a camera at this time but ill try to describe it as hard as i can. You can about find it anywhere in Louisiana and its green, I think its a caterpillar. It can be found under trees hanging from some kind of thin peace of web/string, its pretty sticky.it has a black head while the whole part of the body is green but this is when its about 1 inch. I saw another today but this one was huge about 2 inches and fat. Can anyone identify this?

Its just an ordinary silkworm. Your anole will be able to eat it if its about 1 inch long, probably not a 2 inch, but since they are wild, they may have some sort of pesticide or parasites on it that may harm your anole.

it is certainly not a silkworm as they dont live anywhere near the us. i cannot say whether you should feed it unless we can see a photo because it may be poisonous

You mean...An inchworm?

...Make sure wherever you found that insect that it is far from where cars drive and pesticide users.

Here is a good rule of thumb:

1) Insects that are brightly colored are so for a reason. They are either distasteful or toxic. It is called warning coloration.

2) Insects that are green, brown, or some other camoflage color are also so for a reason. They try to blend in with their surroundings because they are good food for predators.

3) In the case of caterpillers, if they have hairs, spines, or other defensive structures DON’T feed them to your Anole. Likewise, if they are brightly colored (see #1) DON’T feed them to your Anole.

I’ll bump "Wild Caught Insects" for you.

okay its dark green, so its possibly good for predators, it has no defensive structues like hair, and i saw an anole eat one(a wild one). should i feed the worm to my anole’s? i like caught 13 of them
