 Question on my Green anole

Okay so I finally figured out what the post anal scales on a male look like and it appears that the anole i caught in the wild is MALE :) I found this picture and I think it will help alot of people out on sexing their GREEN ANOLE the male is A and the female is B

Hope that works this is my first post.
So my question is he doesn’t act male he has never made his red thing come out doesnt do push ups or bob his head thinking maybe he is GAY lol. i bought a female anole at petco (where the pets go) hoping that they would breed or something but mostly to give Lenny some company. They didn’t fight so i assumed that were either both female or male female.

I put a mirror in front of him because i heard that it would make them puff up but he just looked in it and then crawled on it and up my arm. Does anyone else have a problem with their anole acting gay i guess and not being dominant?

Also is it okay to put a large number of crikets in the cage and let them munch on them all week instead of putting 3-6 in everyday or so?

 Question on my Green anole

I dont think just because its belly looks like A its a male.
I could be wrong though. I dont know if mine is a boy or girl.
i havent checked its belly yet, but i think its a female because i havent seen its dewlap (throat thingy).

 Question on my Green anole

If you’re 100% sure on the sex of your anoles (based on the photos) I’m sure they’re fine. They don’t mate like rabbits. Also, the conditions within their enclosure have to be perfect in order for them to behave as naturally as possible. Check the care sheet within this forum to be sure. ALL aspects of that care sheet are important! You cannot take any "short cuts" as it WILL shorten your anoles’ life spans. Most important are substrate, humidity, temperature, UVB lighting, and gut-loaded insects occasionally dusted with calcium powder (crickets are best).
Are you 100% you have two of the same species of anole?

 Question on my Green anole

yeppers 100% uh i am still working on their habitat so that might be why he is a little down i don’t think they are to stressed. I just didn’t realize what i had to do for them enclosure wise so it was a little more expensive then i first thought. But since I baught lilly for lenny i am going to keep on adding stuff in. until its perfect hardest think right now is getting a larger area for them.

 Question on my Green anole

thanks for the info i thought it was good! if your going to put a lot of crickets in with ur anoles should take any thing out they can hide in, under, or you should just feed them in a separate cage & let them eat for about an hour then put them back in their own cage. but if you do put them in the cage with your anoles make sure u take & clean their cage out after a week because it will start to stink.

 Question on my Green anole

i have been doing that i have two green anoles and two geckos in the enclosure and they eat them all and it hasnt strarted to stink yet. I also put cricket food in the enclosure to keep them from biting the anoles and eating the plants.

 Question on my Green anole

I would separate the anoles and the geckos, and put the geckos in their own tank. Most geckos are nocturnal (depending on what species they are; what kind do you have?) and they can keep the anoles up at night, causing stress. Not to mention that you wouldn’t generally find a gecko and an anole living together in close quarters in the wilderness, and this too can cause them stress. It’s natural instinct that they keep to their own kind. Even if an anole seems like its fine, just because it’s eating and/or sometimes turns green, you really can’t always tell whether it is stressed or not, and it would be a shame to discover they were only after they’ve died. I’m not trying to come down hard on you or anything. I’d just put the geckos in a separate tank for both their sakes.

 Question on my Green anole

i used to live in texas and i always caught geckos there. I lived in Houston where they had Mediterranean house geckos. Depending on where you live they may be texas banded geckos. I kept a pair for 2 years and let it go
