 Injured Anole

One of our cats got into our reptile room and knocked the top from our anole tank last night. We found the anole standing in the kitchen, seemingly in shock. He was very still for a while but started moving around like normal within half an hour.

He has a cut on his tail which doesn’t look too bad, but the other injury concerns me. It looks like he was cut at the bottom of his dewlap, and the cartilage is now hanging out from the dewlap. The cartilage is still connected at the top of the dewlap.

We’re doing a diluted betadyne soak to clean the wounds, but I’m not sure how to handle the dewlap issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

Please take the anole to the vet. If you aren’t sure if there are any exotic vets in your area, then this link should help you: Link It’s always risky to treat a herp yourself. The reptile may risk an infection, and then it’ll be harder to treat.

im not sure... the dewlap isnt really important for its wellbeing, if its just a little cut on the dewlap(not on its actual body) then i wouldnt worry too much. Also, vets for small reptiles are quite expensive

Sounded kind of creepy how it was worded with the cartilage, I think I’m getting the wrong image in mind. Don’t suppose you could take a picture of the anole?
