 Anole won’t eat

I got an anole from a fair a couple of days ago. When i fed it, it the first time, i gave it crickets. It ate one, then went after a second one. Instead it got a faceful of dirt!!!!! NOW it won’t eat!!!!!

Well i got one of those brick thingi-mo-bobs that dissolves in water and when its done it becomes this soil like thing made for reptiles including anoles (so I’ve read).

Any suggestions???

I might as well say this as well, I have a UVB light and sticks and other climbing things too. I spray water but it won’t eat a cricket. even when it is right next to him. It ate only one since i got him on FRIDAY. I’m a newbie but that doesn’t sound good. I have heaters too and thermometers and a humidity thing-a-ma-jig. The thermometers are at 70oF and (on the other side of the cage it is)80oF. the humidity is always above 60.

an anole can last 4-5 days without food, but lets work fast just to be safe.

is your bedding organic?
how big r ur crickets?
preferably, get crickets the size of your nail(index finger)or smaller.this is what i do.
maybe the lizard is thirsty.try misting
is their another anole keeping it from eating?sometimes other anole’s scare one another
were did you get him.

I think my bedding is organic.( pretty sure at least)
Iv’e got half-inch crickets(or smaller)
I’ve been misting a lot
No, i only have one (1) anole
I got him at the Rennaisance Fair

will not having a basking lamp affect it. I mean i have a heater that goes underneath, but it doesn’t give off much heat. I’m going to get a basking lamp today, but since i don’t have one right now is that why it won’t eat? I mean it keeps climbing onto the roof of its cage under the UVB lamp and won’t stay on the ground. could that be why it won’t eat? Because it doesn’t like the ground because it’s to cold so it won’t go down there and eat its crickets????

if it goes to the light that means that it is cold. u need a basking light for them to warm up and get ready to hunt. try moving the cage to the window. make sure the sun hits about 1/4 or a quarter of the tank for him to warm up and get ready.

anolecarer...i just wanted to say sorry if i didn’t help you with any problems that you had. I just was saying that these forums are practically dead and that it takes a rather long time for things to get answered. If you ever have a serious question that needs to be answered quickly then go to a forum that i am starting at this Link. Dont bother registering, i am working out the problems with that currently.
