 My first Anole’s

Hi there,

I am a mother of 4 year old twins... and hubbs and I just purchased our first anole...(can’ believe it they are EVERYWHERE here) but none the less we did...

Any how... the one that we bought... is good... but we asked and they said that capturing one from the back yard should be okay just be sure to look for bugs on it..

any how... as I mentioned TWINS... so one had an anole and the other did.. but I could not see spending 7.99 on a FREE lizard so we caught one... look at it... and they are co-existing well with each other!

after digging through the site... it appears that I have one male (store bought) and one female (caught)
the kids named them HANK and MAX... (hank=store) but now that I have stumbled apon this forum... Maxine is a MAXINE!!!

now I have dug around and for the life of me I don’tt get it... but HANK is nicely colored green and Max is brown... I put them outside for a bit to sunbathe for a bit, thus bringing the temp up (also learned this from the WWW) and they were both spunky and GREEN... now back inside.. humidity levels are abou 80% temp is about 80 and MAX turned brown again! upon more reading I moved the habitat out of the kids room into the livving room thinking that the camotion in there may be stressing them out... and well Hank is pretty again and Max is still kinda DRAB looking...

do you think I should turn MAX loose again.. or give him..um err HER a day to settle in??

I cannot reply to whether to keep them, it has plus and minus.

But if you think the commotion is too much, you can shield the habitat with a simple piece of dark paper outside OR with more places to hide inside.

They might be testing each other as to guest/invader/partner. Who knows?

Please read the care sheet on this forum to be sure those anoles have everything they need. Enclosure size, UVB light, basking light, and substrate are among the most important topics to cover. As well as feeding them gut-loaded insects.
