here is a question that is asked to many people: what is the size of the cage. i doubt its 60 gallons which is the MINIMUM requirement for that size of a group..also there is only one male right

You say you have about 6 10 gallon tanks?

Then put one anole in each of them, though, I doubt you would because you’d need lights for all of them and that would be more expensive than buying a 60 gal, you shouldn’t have gotten that many if you were short on space. Besides, it’s not good to have more than one male in the tank, what if 4 of them are males...in a 10 gallon! You might have some dead lizards if you don’t fix your problems.

I’ve got some advice; learn your grammar. Sounds good? Start now.

So, what they are saying, in a nice way, is to just maintain your Anoles like they would want to be.
10Gal to an Anole would be grand. If you’re trying to breed them, maybe put one male and a female in a 15 gal tank? The temperature in the tank should be in the low low 90s to high 80s around April - May, their mating season.
A night/day cycle may help this too.

ALSO! I got more :p
Males’ snouts are a tad bit longer, and they have pink-ish ’sacs’ under their chins. Females have a creamy pink colour, but no obvious sac. If you put two in the same Tank, keep an eye out for semi circles above their eyes, that could mean they are being too stressed out, and make sure your means of transportation are safe for them, they’re not afraid to jump to their death. ;)

Hope this helps bud, good luck, and remember to put in an extra effort to make sure your Anoles are comfortable in their new environment.

Please read the caresheet. The adice previously given about head shape and fewlaps is not a good basis for sexing Anoles.

Well, I guess you can call me an animal lover. 1 dog 1 bird 2 cats plus anoles. If I can do that with all the money I have you can work with your anoles. Just take some advice from these guys.

The 99.99% way to sex anoles, with visual aids included: Link Now go sex your anoles!

Quoted from Atrax’s Anole FAQs:

Quote:

A good rule of thumb it to use the following formula: 10 gallon units X 1 + 1= # of Anoles. Thus you can house two in a 10 gallon enclosure, three in a 20 gallon, etc. up to four Anoles. Above that number allow 10 gallons per Anole. Remember, these are minimums and larger enclosures are better by far.

Immediately separate the males. Upon reaching maturity, they will fight, sometimes to the death. Never keep more than one male in the same tank. Concerning females, and don’t quote me on this because I’m not sure but, I think 1-5 females can be kept to a male (someone please correct me if I’m wrong).

Each tank is going to need a setup and I’m not going to lie, it will be expensive. You’ll need organic potting soil or Bed-a-Beast substrate, branches to climb on, plastic leaves, mesh tops for the tanks, a hygrometer and two thermometers, a basking light, and regular light (UVB fluorescent).

Read Atrax’s posts for more information on anoles and anole care.

If you can’t afford to keep the anoles, don’t make them suffer, just take them back to the pet store. If they try and tell you you can’t return them, just explain that the person who sold them to you told you they needed very little to be kept healthy, but that you learned from researching that they require an expensive setup that you can’t afford.

Considering that you said you’re on a budget, I wouldn’t even try mating anoles.
