What size tank heater? (Atrax? Help!)

I have a new tank for my anoles but it’s not warm enough on the basking side (it’s in the low 80s), so I figured I’d attach a under tank heater to the side. The tank is 23" high, and every side is 17.5" wide.

#1. What size of a tank heater do I want to go for? Do I want something that will take up as much space on one side as possible? Because I found a tank heater that’s 19.5" x 10.5", that’s the biggest I can get. Or will I want something smaller?
#2. (optional) How many gallons is this, by the way?

Tank size 30.5 gallons
You don’t need an undertank heater. Just adjust the wattage (a higher wattage incandescent bulb) and/or decrease the distance between the bulb and the basking spot until you have a temperature of 90 degrees. Remember NOT to put the bulb directly on the mesh cage cover,

I have a range of bulbs from 60 to 100 Watts depending on the ambient room temperature and the time of year.

What’s the minimum distance the bulb should be from the tank? Currently it’s two inches away, and a 60 watt.

That is probably about as close as you want to get. You want to avoid heating the wire mesh to the point that it will cause burns. Try a 75 Watt at the same distance and see what you get for a temperature reading. You can go to a 100 Watt if that doesn’t work. Just keep adjusting the distance and Wattage until you find the "sweet spot".
