One on one? Yes. The only problem is that he may be in constant pursuit. Make sure to provide adequate hiding places for her.

If you get a female anole you might want to give it some privacy with the male for a little while!

One on one? Try a field with high grass. Sweep through it with a net with a bag made out of muslin (or some other fine gauge material). I used to catch all I needed in Ohio when I lived there.

One on one?
Well I live in tennessee and we don’t have anoles here. but we do have the skinks. i really like the blue tailes ones. but Atrax i did a goggle on the leaf hoppers and the little bug i was telling you about that was green and comes to our porch light at night and runs side to side turns out wasn’t a leaf hopper. still not sure what kind it is but they love them. and what i saw by doing a google search i have not seen any of those kinds og hoppers here either and i have grew up in the mtns. here and fields all over. so i am pretty sure we don’t have them here but we do have lots of grass hoppers. we bought ours on a trip we took to myrtle beach this yr. and my son paid 19.99 for both. but they came in a plastic small tank. but of course we bought a bigger fish tank when we got them home. and the people who live down there thought it was so funny that we pay for a lizard that they can’t keep out of their houses lol. have a great day all

One on one? Actually, you do have Green Anoles in Tennessee. Dr. Echternact at UT in Knoxville is an authority on their behavior and does a lot of field studies in the areas nearby. Do a google search for Plant Hoppers. It is probably one or the other. You have bunches and bunches of both Plant Hoppers and Leaf Hoppers there. My sister-in-law lives in Dandridge and they are all over the place there.

One on one? ok thanks Atrax. maybe it’s because where i live i am 5 miles next to the state line of kentucky. knoxville is an hour from me and the temp. is always about 15 to 20 warmer there than here. i’ve lived here all my life and have never seen any kind of anoles. but like i said we have the skinks all over. maybe it’s like our tobby worms lol and its a different name here. we call everything that hops a grass hopper lol. thanks again. also i don’t know if you read the other question i wrote in the dewflap column but will a new female and my old female fight when they are first introduced? just for 1 to be the queen as i call it lol and if so for about how long? they won’t fight till death will they? the female i have now that is gravid showed her dewlap the first time tonight to the other female when she was making noise in her tank trying to climb.

One on one? Females have territorial disputes as well. However, they are not nearly as violent as males (Google "Anole Wars" and look at the video). There is always a dominant female in a wild community but, once they get the "pecking order" established, there are usually no further conflicts.
Males, on the other hand, constantlt defend and delineate their territory against everyone.
