How can i raise the temp?

I have had a green anole lizard for several weeks and the temp is just staying at 70 - 72 degrees. How can I raise it to the required degree?

ok...that is a bit too low. I keep my cage in the 80s with a 90 degree basking spot temp. What are ALL of the lighting/heating accessories that are used for the cage?

well that probably is why there are temp problems. You need one or more incandescent lights(that can be a normal light bulb) And you also need a UVB fluorescent tube light(Reptiglo 5.0 or ReptiSun 5.0). You said that you were using an anole starter kit light. By any chance are you still using an anole starter kit cage?

Your Anoles NEED a second light, not optional but necessary. This is their basking light. It’s placed on one side of the cage, face down on the top (because you don’t want it shining through glass or plastic either), you need that screen mesh top. This can just be a regular bulb, like a 60 watt incandescent bulb you’d have in a reading lamp. Dont’ let the bulb itself get right up against the mesh top, or it will melt it. Two inches should be around the minimum the bulb should be to the lid. The temperature you want to go for is 85-92 degrees (90 being best). Place a second thermometer inside the tank, around the height that your anole usually spends his or her time.

For the first light, which is for their normal lighting all around, what type bulb are you using?

How can i raise the temp?

As an example. I have three (3) lights for heat for my 40-gallon. They are 60-Watt regular bulbs in 5-1/2" clamp lamps suspended about 2" above the mesh top across the back of the enclosure. The multiple basking areas that are thus created are a constant 90 degrees. There is a temperature gradient from the front to back of the enclosure with the front (cool) being between 71-75 degrees and the rear being 90 degrees. Supplemental lighting consists of a ReptiSun 5.0 UVB and a GE Sunshine (both fluorescents). All are on a timer (as well as the Habba-Mist) and operate 13.5 hours per day.
In the winter, when the ambient house temperature is lower, I replace two of the regular 60-Watt bulbs with 75-Watt bulbs. I can also adjust the distance above the mesh for the heating lights to increase or decrease the temperature at the basking areas.
