My first tank setup This is my first tank setup. Not sure if i should keep the reptile carpet though. I have two small real plants with a couple of fake leaves stuch in with them. Thae I have a bunch of branches running around to different areas. I want to get a 20 to 30 gallon tank in the near furture. Are there any places that have tank setup ? Just looking for ideas.

My first tank setup The newer, soft, reptile carpets (not that old astroturf, indoor/outdoor carpeting stuff) are not a bad option. You’ll need to get a UVB flourescent bulb in addition to a heat source. Check out the enclosure pic thread here. I really like Hellscheshire’s set up. check out this site: Alanolis’ site

My first tank setup I hope there isn’t any small white balls in the soil of your potted plants. That is fertilizer and it will kill an anole very quickly if they swollow it. Other than that your setup is fine and will be fine temporarily without the uvb bulb.

My first tank setup The basking lamp does emit uvb. Or at least Iam pretty sure it does. I will have to call the pet store. Here is another pic of my set up. Would I need a notjer light to the right of the tank?? If so, what would be a good one, just a plain flourescent?? Watts??? Also another question, When my anole is basking he is never out in the open, he is alway off to the side a little bit, and he is never bright green. If he is basking on a log will he stay brown or turn green?? He is usually just light green. I hope he is doing ok.

My first tank setup try to get that basking light a little closer to the lid! Your anole needs the heat! and do you have a fresh water dish for him in the tank?!! Otherwise your environment looks FABULOUS!!

My first tank setup I highly doubt that your incadesant bulb produces any usable amount of UVB. There are UVB bulbs that are made to screw into a standard socket but they don’t produce enough heat like the UVA bulbs do. Please check into this some more. UVA = heat and UVB = simulated sunlight.Be sure not to lower the light closer until you check the temp. I tried leaving mine on the screen itself and the basking spot was off the chart (over 110F). At the moment my heat lamp is 11" above the tank and the basking spot is 95F.
