Brown anole I think I bought a brown anole by mistake! I bought 2 females and a male at the pet shop. There was a cage of brown anoles and green anoles so I didnt even think that there would be a brown anole in the green anole cage! What kind of a problem will this be? Can they live together? Can they reproduce? I dont want to take her back, she is a nice looking lizard.

Brown anole They can’t reproduce sine A. sagrei and A. carolinensis are genetically incompatible. The usual problems in reference to mixing species apply.

Brown anole Post a pic, please. If it has no markings on its back, it is likely a Green Anole. Check it when it is asleep. Green Anoles are green then since they can’t control their pigmentation while asleep.

Brown anole it was light tan when i got it. now it has darkened and has a pattern. can you guess on male or female? I’m assuming its a brown anole. It was living with the greens at the pet shop, so can it just stay with them now?

Brown anole Your brown anole is a male. You really shouldn’t have a group of males together because they are territorial and will cause each other stress leading to a short life.Good luck.

Brown anole It is a female Brown Anole (A. sagrei). Note the diamond shaped markings from the back of the neck to the tail - a Brown Anole female characteristic.

Brown anole Thank you so much! I looked with a magnifiying glass & didnt see the scales underneath, and she didnt seem to have any extra skin on her neck so I was surprised to think it was a male. And the male and female just seem to ignore her. She eats good. By any chance can you tell if she is gravid? she seems alittle fat. Now what to do with her. I really dont want to set up another cage. But I like her.
