Fuzzy caterpillars...omnom? Or not so much

So you know those fuzzy caterpillars (black orange and fuzzyish)? They love laying in big clumps in trees about this time of year. Can I feed them to my anoles?

Never mind those things irritate my skin x3. Can’t imagine what it would be like in a stomach.

Caterpillers that are spiny or hairy are so for a purpose. The hairs and spines are either toxic or an irritant.

Well the orange caterpillar with black spines is called the oleander caterpillar. Its spines actually have no irritant to them at all. (I enjoy watching them).

As for being a good food.. I’m honestly not sure, but its not something I would risk.
They turn into the wasp moth

Insect larvae have the unsettling facility of concentrating toxins in the food that they eat in their bodies. Oleander is poisonous.

I have a bush that usually I have many caterpillars like that on but instead this year I only found one big one and all the little ones are gone replaced with lizards so I don’t know!!! They may eat them.

I gave the big one to my neighbors next door (they are little and love raising any animal) and it is cocooning right now. I am an only child and sometimes they feel like a little brother and sister to me. I play with them a lot and their grandma, grandpa and mom love me!
