Anole head bobbing?? So last night i was holding my anole (it is a male) and he started bobbing his head. After i returned him to his enclosure (also have a female) he continued bobbing his head. What does this behavior mean? After a few minutes or so he stopped.

Anole head bobbing?? He has been doing it for days now though. I think he might just be trying to scare me off because he always does it when i look in to check on them and he doesnt really pay much attention to my female. And he doesnt flare up or extend his dewlap.

Anole head bobbing?? As Atrax said, basically it’s a display of showing aggression, or trying to impress a female.

Anole head bobbing??
Bobbing of the head could mean he is trying to be aggressive towards you because he thinks you are a threat or when you put him back in the cage showing off to the female. I live in florida and see males a lot so when I see a good looking healthy male that likes to attract females I catch him and let the other go other go. THat includes when i see a lot of head bobbing and/or dewlap action. I do constant breeding with anoles especially because I caught two female brown anoles (A. Sagrei) that have large amounts of red pigment. Hope this helped!! :D
