 Color Question

Late this fall I found a green anole in my mud-room and decided to keep him. I think when I initially found him he was green but quickly turned brown. I know that they’re not always "supposed" to be green. But from what I’ve read, they’re "typically" green durring the day and brown durring the night. Mine is quite the opposite - he’s never green during the day but at night, when he sleeps, he’s usually green. Could this be because he’s too cold? I think I need to increase his basking spot by about 5 - 10 degrees and since it’s now winter time it’s been kind of tough keeping the humidity up. Any suggestions??? Also - do they really like a shallow dish of water? My anole stays up on his log or up on the plant leaves - he doesn’t really spend time on the ground unless he’s hunting. Would he use the water if it was down on the substrate?

 Color Question

Hello, Melinda. I have one tip for you about the water dish. You can use the water dish, but it is only necessary if you do not spray or mist the tank with water regularly.

Ah. I always mist pretty good everyday - aim for two times a day. I also have a little dripper system that I put together. And of course I water the plants in there pretty good on the weekends.

hree’s my theory, when there are n rays to absorb, they don’t bbother, so the turn green, because whenever my lights off for the cage, they turn green nearly instantly
