Poor Billy Ray is always brown.

I got an anole for a birthday present about a week ago. I hooked him up with a 25 gallon tank, basking lamp, uv light, ceramic heater, mister etc. When I fist got him, he came in a little carrying case. He lived in that in my closet for 2 days until I got him set up in his cage. He was always green in the closet. Now he is brown. Do you think the little guy is stressed? Does it take awhile to get used to a new enviornment? Please somebody help, I’d like to see Billy Ray green again.

it might be because he is shocked of all the space but i doubt it. this may sound cruel but it always works...when mine is brown if i give him a little scare, misting him with water should do it, when he runs and jumps around does he rapidly turn green? he should, if not he may be sick. Is he eating regularly?

Thank you for responding. He eats like a pig ( at least 3-4 crickets daily). I will try to mist him but, he doesn’t even turn green when he hunts. I got the name of a good Vet. I will have to take him if he doesn’t get green.

Good luck...So the the scareing him a bit didnt work? yeah that sounds odd for an anole...they should go to almost neon green. if not, he might just be dehydrated

you dont mist him?????? you had better start really soon , not to get after you or anything but some anoles only drink if their water is moving! so spray ur anole 1-2 times a day make sure the water beads on the walls of his house and his leaves and so on > try that and see if that fixes ur problem

Oh no I mist him, I actually have a consant drip of water in his tank. This is what is really freaking me out because he was green. Are you sure I’m feeding him too much? I read that you should feed anoles as much as they will eat? Whew, I have a lot to learn. I get paid on the 30th and Billy Ray is going to the Vet. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really appreciate your help!

oh ok it`s good to hear that she has a constent water supply but as far as the food goes that is true but anoles usually don`t eat that much and usually the crickets and meal worms will die in there house and make a stink, but if ur anole eats that much if i were you i would keep feeding her that much
