ANOLES!!!

Hello, I can get an anole and everything for it for $25 (thats including extras like a book on caring for them). I live in South Carolina and see lizards all the time here. What we call lizards appear to be anoles I suspect. Just wondering if anyone knew where I could find them like where they sleep, spend their day, etc. so I can catch one instead of buy. I saw them all the time but now that I am looking for one I can’t seem to find one...it always works out like that. Also, how big do anoles get? I here that they can live up to 5 years. Last thing, are they easy to breed? And how do you tell a male from a female (other than probing it). Thanks, Stephen

They usually climb up on windows and screens when the sun is out, or on the side of the house.

ANOLES!!!
Yeah, get one from a pet store. Don’t get them from the wild because they have been there their whole lives. The ones in petstores have been mostly in captivity their whole lives, and are used to it.

Dont catch one wild it probably wont survive, and its a bit cruel to take it out of its habbitat, its better to buy one that has been breed in captivity that way they dont know what its like to be in the wild and it shouldnt get strested being in a cage, as it’s been in one for all its life

ANOLES!!!

I have five green anoles. I live in Ga and I caught all five on my patio. I went to the dollar store baught a net for a buck and caught at least seven Anoles. I let two go because they were males I have two seperate tanks one has one male and two females. And the other has one of each. I haven’t had a problem with them yet. For heat I sit the tank out early in the morn and in late eve they mate at least once a day (both males) and they seem to be doing fine. I didn’t buy heat lamps, uv lamps or any of the other extras they (SUGGEST) you buy I figure they didn’t have it outside they don’t need it now. Two of my females look pregnant and I am watching for eggs any day.

Emilio, Cool, but I would’nt recommend buying any lizards and putting them in together. I only say this because of disease. But, if it works it works I guess.

$25 is a good price! i dont think u are seeing anoles they are native to texas and live in trees and on vines. i wouldnt get one from the wild because it will cause them stress and they will get aggresive. just buy one from the pet store they are like $7 which is really cheap. anoles also grow to about 4 to 5 inches. ur lucky to have lizards live around ur house i live in chicago and and all we have is like frogs, toads, and gangs. lol.

true and that very anole i caught is tamed. i was looking for a female i couldnt find one so i went to petco (the anoles looked sick) the helthiest one was a female but it was to small to eat the crickits they had so it was real skinny but now shes doing better and eats small crickits and is more healthy for those of you who think i shouldent of went to that petstore you are right but at least shes better now and also if your buying your first lizard buy it at a reptile show, the pet stores are no nothings the reptile shows say stuff like dont buy this herp, its sick while the petstores just want money |

Wake-up early and wait for the first rays of sun to hit then search for them with the sun at your back, they should be basking, you’ll be able to see them clearly at this time. Catching wild anoles is ok in my opinion, i did it all the time and had VERY little problems, if any, with stress. Check out the care sheets for more info, especially mine ;)
