Before you ask a totally redundant question Most (if not all) of the elementary questions that appear on this website have been answered many times through the months. Before you ask a question to be answered for the hundredth time, please do a little research. At the top of the page is a selection entitled "Search". By selecting it and entering a couple of keywords and specifying a forum (or all forums), you can generally find all of the information that you need. If you can’t find the answer that way, go ahead and ask the question.

Before you ask a totally redundant question You will find that there are usually multiple messages in each thread. Just take the time to look before you ask. It gets a little wearisome to answer "how do you tell the difference between a male and female Anole" a couple of times a week just because the person asking the question is unwilling or not aware of how to search the message base and/or archives to get the information that he/she needs.

Well if you think it’s so "wearisome" to answer the same question than just don’t answer it. I’m not trying to be rude but it is that easy to just not answer it.

Before you ask a totally redundant question Atrax has a very good point. The same questions are asked over and over again, and each time you get someone that thinks they have the right answer posting a response, who’s really only spreading misnomers around that don’t help anyone out. Proper research before getting an anole is key. And while asking a question is a good thing, you also have to be willing to put forth a little effort. Afterall, if you can’t do that, then how are you going to devote the time each day it takes to care for an animal?

Before you ask a totally redundant question Atrax is just saying that instead of everyone asking the same question, just use the search button. It was made for a reason, and it is a very useful tool.
And if no one answers their question, how are they supposed to find out what the answer is? Now at least they know that there is a search button.

Before you ask a totally redundant question Just below are a series of postings that should cover all of the elementary questions that you need answered. They were all in the current forum message threads. A search would have found all of them.

Before you ask a totally redundant question Atrax is right, in my humble opinion. I’m new here, and I’m astounded at the repetition of good but basic questions. It gets a bit tiresome.
It is an indication of just how many people are buying pets BEFORE doing any research on how to provide for their critters, too, which is scary and sad.
Lets make the best use of this site as a resource: do your research before asking simple questions. Otherwise the experts will lose interest in checking this site. Let’s make ’em answer the really interesting and difficult questions!
Also, the care sheets are super helpful and worth checking.

Before you ask a totally redundant question
Wow! i just came on this page for the first time, i own a CWD and an MHD, i was looking at lizards for my lil brother, he is 7 and rather intelligent for his age. I know anoles are cheap but was wondering if they are practical or if they will live very long, considering some of my lizards will most likely live to the age of 15 :P. Then i stumbled accross this post..... another thought would be. Instead of complaining about having to right this sort of thing out... utilize the "care sheet" feature, and post a sticky that will have everything from sexing, to general requirements and health issues... that being said, someone please just send me a message letting me know the general lifespan of anoles... thanx i can find out the rest :)

Before you ask a totally redundant question Most meduim sized Anoles (Anolis carolinensis, A. sagrei, A. cristatellus, etc.) 4-6 years. The large species (Anolis equestris, A. garmani, etc.) 10-15 years. These figures are for captive specimens. In the wild, they don’t live nearly as long.
