SALMONELLA!!!!!!!!! I was watching some house cleaning show and the peoples house was truly a garbage can there was rotten food all over the house throwup that had never been cleaned up etc. well their son had a 4 ft. BP it was the prettiest sweetest thing you ever saw..well the cleaning people cleaned out his cage and foudn salmonella!!! his snake had salmonella!! and the water when they rinsed out the aquarium was disgusting. Turn your tv to TLC or something like that and watch it...its kinda funny...I mean the snake is very well taken care of he must of just never washed out his cage adn only clean out the feces...lol kinda weird..I hope my snakes don thave salmonella!!!

SALMONELLA!!!!!!!!! as long as you wash your hands after cleaning the cage and handleings when you came near the cloaca of the snake you should be fine. As in herps salmonella is transmitted through the feces (from contact with the cloaca). You are more likely to get salmonella from eating chicken products than from a herp. 19 out of 20 chickens tested from different companies contained salmonella.
