Bad shed! Well my baby Bp just finished his first shed. It wasn’t a very good one. He’s 98% done but there about an inch of skin left behind his head. I tired soaking him and letting him be in a towel but it didn’t work. it had been a like 10 days since he last ate so i fed him yesterday. He’s doing great except for the skin behind his head he can’t seem to get it off. will it eventually come off. i heard i’m not supposed to help them on here somewhere so i won’t but i just hope it’s not bothering him. Thanks

Bad shed! If it is not near the eyecaps and cloaca you will probably be fine. I suggest uping your humidity for a week to around 70% instead of 50-60%, and soak him in warm water for 30 minutes every other day. It will either come off soon, or during his next shed.

Bad shed! When I first got my ball python, she was like one year old,and her first shed was bad. Some of the skin on her back didn’t come off for quite a while,so I started using a homemade humidifier all the time, keeping the humidity around 60-75%.Now,when I see her eyes clouding over,I just let her soak for a half hour in the tub every day until she sheds, and her skin comes off almost perfectly almost every time.

Bad shed! It is also good to towle them off after they soak as air drying can dry them out more actually. Other than that...all advice above is good but i dont see harm in helping with stuck skin. You need to be very carefull but if they soak you can lightly rub it off. It will not likely come off without help because it is not rubbin on much and it does not have the skin around it to pull anymore. It isnt a big deal and roachy has a point that it can cause harm by pulling it off. But you need to make sure your tank is in its best shape since they will be more prone to collecting bacteria under and around that skin.

Bad shed! I agree, i don’t think it is bad to "help" it after a soak ... but there is a big difference between helping or rubbing it off, and pulling it off ... if you have to pull, DON’T! My BP, is also have’n some troubles with her first shed(sence i got her) ... i have the humidity around 70% ... ima go get a spray bottle tommorow and get the humidity up more ...and i have been give’n her baths, but its not realy helping ... It seems that lots of ppl have problems with the first shed after they get thier BP, could this be conected to stress? of the move and new environment? just a thought... Later, Jake
