How big should my tank be? it should be a 40/30 breeder or a 3’ by 2’. Dont use a 55 gallon as they are way to narrow.

How big should my tank be? A 30 gallon tank should house a full grown male bp just fine. Females, depending on how much bigger than a male, usually a 40 gal would be good. What size tank are you keeping your baby in right now? They should be kept in a 15-20 gal tank until they hit about 2-3 feet, then upgrade.

How big should my tank be? is it okay to keep a baby ball python in a 40 gallon tank just so you dont have to keep upgrading or is it a must to keep it in a certain size tank for a certain size snake? just wondering!

How big should my tank be? Well....you COULD keep it in a huge tank like that, but its a risk of stressing them out greatly. Baby bp’s feel very vulnerable in the new and scary world they’re brought into when they hatch, and they seem to like small cozy places rather than a big tank. People have used big tanks like that for hatchlings though. And what they do to make the snake feel more secure is LOAD the tank with a bunch of stuff to cover space. Like tons of hides, fake plants, branches, anything that’ll take up space and make it look more cluttered and less open and scary. Thing is, it’ll look really cool, but it’ll be easy to lose your little snakey in that big tank, lol. You’d never know where it is. It’s up to you. I say if you really want to do it, go for it. But be sure to load it with stuff like I said.Personally, if buying multiple tanks is a problem, I’d just go with sterilte/rubbermaid containers as cages. It’s cheaper, so it doesn’t seem like a big deal when you have to upgrade cages, plus it’s better to keep heat and humidity in. They come in all sizes, are cheap, and many would choose sterilite containers over glass tanks. Glass tanks have a tendency to not keep heated well. Glass isn’t a good insulator. Lets a lot of heat and humidity escape. Currently I’m using a 20 gallon glass tank for my baby bp, but when I need to upgrade, I’m just using a rubbermaid container. That is if I don’t have my big cage built for her by then.
