Ok, ball pythons are awesome snakes!they are very laid back, good temperment and very docile! You will neeed, a substrate (such as newspaper or repticarpet)water bowl big enough for it to soak in, feed it an aproopriately sized mice/rat weekly (apropriate meaning the width of the snakes body) they need a cool side of 80F and a hot side of 90F a fitting hide (fitting meaning the snake has just enough room to fit its whole body in) some fake leaves and vine, and branches are good too. You will also need, a digital thermometor and humidity gauge. I thin kthey are one of the best snakes! Don’t hold your snake till its been about a week, dont feed it till then either. Do not hold your snake until 48hrs. after feeding it, and DO NOT tap on the glass! Hold the snake and check it out before buying it, so you have a healthy docile snake! if you have any otther questions asked!!!

now about those pictures......

I would limit it to like, 30minutes twice a day. Just until he gets more used to you and older.

only if you dont house them properly, they have had a bad experience, are wild caught, something stressed them out, or its mating season.....but some do, some don’t. If you house it and care for it properly, and its CB you should be fine.

 THINKIN ABOUT A BALL PYTHON

Good advice BoaBabe. Just wondering, why not tap the glass? Lol. They don’t have any ears to hear with, and I know they pick up vibrations, but would the tapping on the glass really bother them much? I doubt it’d be any different then them feeling our foot steps and voice vibrating as we’re around their cage during the day.

Why would anyone tap on the glass anyway?

Well, tapping on the glass REALLY scares them, its like an earthquake to them. I had this little 1yr old come over and she tapped on cupids tank and he started freaking out!! It really stresses them out.
And you know how like when they just sit there (most of the time) sometimes it looks like they’re dead, unless you see them breath? Well someone might tap on the glass to make sure its alive.

30 gallon can easily hold a full grown bp. I like to keep a bp in a 20 gallon tank until they hit 3 feet, then move up to 30 gallon breeder or bigger.

Yes, bp’s are a shy species and spend 80% of their time in hides. Usually they only come out once in a while at night when you’re not around to see them. During the day they’ll usually curl up in their hides and sleep. So it’s totally normal that your snake is in its hide a lot.

Male bp’s average around 3-4 feet. Females 4-5 feet. Of course, every snake is different, so they may not always be in those ranges.
