Wanted to say Hello So Hello to all! Recentely we got two snakes. I studied before hand and got it all set up. I want to keep them happy and healthy. A few days ago we got a friends snake to babysit till they can take care of her. I had previously bought them some items to care for the snake. But they were down and out so I offered cause I knew I could care for her. Anyway. She has shed but her eye caps have not come off. She is eating fine the temps are fine in the setup I have for her. I let her soak some last night but she must not have been soaked before cause seh wanted out.. lol Any suggestions would be helpful. I am willing to learn all I can about them. Thanks And the forums look great Crystal

Wanted to say Hello Thanks ness for the info. I was thinking about some spray I read about some where, but was was thinking the same thing. It might hurt her eyes. I was gonna test it on myself first ,lol. I also thought about misting her with warm water??? Crystal

Wanted to say Hello Aww, dealing with eyecaps can be tricky. If you’re really really really sure that the eye cap is still on there, you can do two things. One is dangerous, especially if the eye cap did come off and you’re doing it to a good eye. The other is safer, but requires a steady hand.1. You can take a piece of scotch(clear) tape and wrap it around your finger, sticky side out. Then gently touch the sticky part to the eye and the cap should come off. I myself wouldn’t do this one, but I’ve heard others that have done it successfully. Make sure the caps are indeed still on the snake though, lol. 2. Take a Q-Tip or a cotton swab, dip it in some mineral oil or water, and wipe the eye cap gently until it comes off.

Wanted to say Hello Thanks pelota. I will look again, but as of last night they were still on. I like the cotton swab idea. lol And I will do some warm mists for a few more days.. if no change then I think i will try the swab idea. Crystal
