Housings other than tanks... I was reading the thread about housings from 10/4. I would like to set up something other than a tank for my bp. I have a 2 yr old that likes to help himself to our critters. (We are currently missing a baby turtle :( ) I’m worried one of these days the "door" on the tank screen is going to be left unlatched and "Sport" will escape. I would like a set up that I can put a lock on it. I liked JakePRouse (? did I get the name right) set up on the other thread. That was homemade? Did it have glass or screen? There are the "metal" cages at the pet store but I don’t know if that would work because of the humidity. A bp couldn’t squeeze through a tiny "grid" like that could it? Any suggestions of places to buy one or ideas on making one would be appreciated. hsmom

Housings other than tanks... You can custem make one. I made a ball python cage from plywood, plexiglass and 2 x 4’s. I made it big because I have four balls. It is 6 feet long 3 feet wide and tall enough that I have use a hook to take them out of the top. The top has three hinged doors and when I open all three the top is completley opne. I also have one hinged door on one end. All the doors have hasps so I can use a pad lock if I feel the need,as well as "screen door" latches. It works really well.

Housings other than tanks... Yep, what roachey said. But stay away from the "grid" type metal cages. Those might be okay for birds or hamsters, but for a cold blooded animal that needs to have pretty accurate temperatures, it’s no good. It’d let the heat all out and humidity would be impossible. The only way that would work is if you kept the room the snake is in at around 85 degrees at all times, and had 60% humidity in the room aswell. So ya, not the best.
