Is this normal? when i fed my ball, nyoka something wierd (at least wierd to me) happened. it looked like when it was going down his throat he was bleeding or his throat was just red in the scale gaps when his scales expanded then he started shaking his head and the food slided bit by bit down. afterward he was perfectly fine. is this normal??

Is this normal? I’m not sure...are you sure it looked like blood? Maybe the skin between the scale rows was pink or red. But if it was blood, I dunno. If it was, I wouldn’t think it’d be anything good, lol. As for shaking the head, I dunno about that also. When my ball is swallowing her meal, she just keeps contracting her muscles and putting her neck in an S shape to push the meal down. Haven’t seen her shake her head..Guess you’ll have to wait for someone more knowledgable.

Is this normal? If you feed your snake a large meal then the scales will separate as the snakes throat expands revealing the red or pink underneath. I’ve only seen that from feeding a large meal. If it was blood you would have some evidence of blood somewhere in the tank.

Is this normal? a snake dislocates to eat they eat roughly 3 times the size of their head... when the meal is a little larger the skin stretches seperating the scales just a bit to give the impression of an injury.... at times reptiles will shift their head to ease the meal down its one reason they eat head first.... so the fur doesnt lift against their throats causing irritation.... just means shes eating bigger then what shes used to its nothing to worry about.....

Is this normal? A pinky? Pinky mouse or rat? If mouse, then wow, how small is your snake? lol. Most bp’s can take a fuzzy mouse or bigger right as a hatchling. Remember a bp can eat a rodent roughly the same size as the biggest part of their body.

Is this normal? In addition to the other posts, sometimes the prey animal will bleed so you may have seen prey blood.
