Nice looking ball python:) How old is he/she?
I also like the setup you have looks like you put alot of care into it. It’s nice to see people taking herp keeping beyond the level of just bare newpaper bottem cages, into pieces of artwork.

ya hes mine. thanx sooooo much boababe for the help! his/her name is Nyoka (havent got em probed). i think hes about 20-22 in and he shed last night. right now he is soo bright and beautiful (more than usual).

o ya and the reason i didn’t add another hide spot is because i didn’t have enough room in the tank (the current hide spot takes up at least 1/4 of the tank). also, i think he needs the floor space for when he’s shedding. I’m getting a new digital thermometer and the more things u add the more things u need to clean. thanks to all of you guys for your compliments

lol, Well if you had a bit larger cage, you would have enough room. That, and the hide is probably too big for him. The hides that you can buy in pet shops are pretty crappy for keeping a snake feeling secure, and they’re just so expensive. Here’s a good link to read up on proper hide spots. Info On Proper Hide Spots
Just use appropriately sized clay pot bottoms. By appropriate size, I mean something that looks too small for your snake. Something just big enough for him to squeeze into. They like having sides touching them and stuff so small tight hides are best. I picked up 4 clay pots for hides at walmart for 1 dollar each, and my bp loves them.
Oh, and the reason I was wondering about a second hide is because usually its best to provide a temperature gradient(warm side-90 cool side-80) and a hide at each side, so the snake can thermoregulate as it needs.Good to hear you’re going with digital thermometers though. Much more accurate.
