What should I do I went to the pet store today and I bought a bp today. I feel so bad going in pet stores and seeing the mistreatment of these animals...anyway so I bought and brought it home. I pick it up to put in the cage and it struck me 8 times..and then sprayed me with this foul odor. I am so pissed off I do not know what to do. Should I just trade it in for the more docile one that they had there or give the poor thing a chance? Even though it broke my skin.....any suggestions??? Thanks Zach

What should I do I would keep it. It is better you getting that snake than a new little kid as his first snake that will have a bad thought of snakes afterthat. There is a chance it will calm down just wear gloves for now. You have a long time before it can really be painfull and it is never a threat. If it is a female I will take it...at least that means it is a better chance of being a good feeder.

What should I do What I don’t understand is if they’re being mistreated by the pet store, why would you give them business and take one home? You most likely have a wild caught snake, since I’ve never heard of a captive bred specimen spraying and striking like that. And pet shops are known for getting cheap wild caught snakes and selling them to unknowing customers. But yeah, why would you buy it? I can understand you feel sorry for them and wanna give one a good home, but you’re just helping the pet shop then. You’re giving them business, so they’ll continue doing the same. What you should have done was reported the pet store and have it inspected so it could be shut down or fixed up.

What should I do Yeah, that sounds like a good idea Pelota, the other bp they have on hold for me if from a breeder b/c i met him 2 days ago. They didn’t give me any details about "the sprayer" but i will guarantee you he is not staying in my house. Anyway, if i was not getting the other snake from a breeder, i would be a lot more nasty about this whole situation...thanks for your help. Zach

What should I do I got a 10 year captive from a guy and it was great for a while and it ended up turning into a crazy thing after I sold it and people were like giving it away to people...I felt bad for it because it was a rescue and now i dont know where it is...I tried.

What should I do Sorry to hear that Eunectes, I just didn’t want an aggressive snake for my first one and all it did was reticulated and strike at me. So I got a nice baby bp from a breeder. I hope she turns out all right, she seems docile.
