Deformed nose?? Can snakes, and i guess lizards, get a deformed nose by rubbing it against the glass continuously?? I heard that can happen i just want to make sure my bp doesn’t get it. At night she occasionally rubs against the sides of the cage. Is that OK? Or does she need to do it all of the time and for a long time? Some help would be nice Thanks!Zach

Deformed nose?? If by deformed, you mean raw and bloody and scarred, then yes, they can. But it’s not a good trait to let them do. A lot of people with mesh cage lids have to deal with their snakes rubbing their noses against it when trying to get out. I’d say it’s fine if you don’t see any sores or wounds on your snakes nose from rubbing. As for how to stop it, I don’t know.

Deformed nose?? When reptiles rub their nose against their enclosure a lot, it can lead to mouth rot which is not a good thing. Reptiles do this because they can’t see the glass, it just looks like open space to them. If it becomes a problem for you try wrapping white paper or something that has a solid color around the base of your tank. They can recognize that as a barrier and may stop rubbing.
