 Python eating Kittens?
I just had a question, my brother and friend have a 5 foot and a 12 foot Ball Python and they have been feeding them kittens! I really don’t think this is the right thing to do, because of the poor little kittens and couldn’t the kitten hurt the snake with its claws? I would think they could. I just think this is totally wrong and everytime I say something to them they just laugh at me. I just was wondering what you people thought about this? Does anyone agree with me? Or is it ok?

A 12 foot long ball python? That must be a new world record for sure. I think that the kittens could harm the snake if the kittens are old enough to fight back. I would never feed a snake kitten just because it is a kitten, but I did get a call once from a lady who had some new born kittens eaten by a large black rat snake. Both the kittens and the rat snake were in her barn.

That is what they said it was 12 foot! I have not personally saw the 12 foot one. When my brother bought his snake he came over to show me, so I know his is 5 foot. So you don’t think that the other one is 12 foot or if it is it is not a ball python? I am really not a snake person, never owned one, but have them in my yard and will pick it up and then release it, so I don’t know a lot about them but would love to beable to tell them they are full of sh--!! What they told me was that they fed one of my sisters kittens to this snake and the kitten was atleast (just a guestamation here) but I would say 7 or 8 weeks old.

yea the 5ft most probably a bp
but the 12ft 1 is more likely to be a burmese because ppl buy them wehen there small baby’s and 9 months l8r there like 8ft long!

The 12 ft python is 100% not a ball python. And if he has a 5 ft ball python I will give him good money or another snake for it. I will give him a small snake that will grow bigger but for now it cant eat any kittens. 5 ft is a great adult ball python. And if the person hasa 12 ft python and thinks its a ball python they should not have the snake. That shows very little knowledge about a very potentially dangerous animal. I think feeding kittens is a dumb idea and very immature and that is the reason people have a problem with snakes. Irresponsible owners. Tell them to stop and a large ft rat is much better for the animal anyway.

I have told them plenty of times to stop that it is not right they are doing it and not just because they are kittens! But they don’t listen they just ask, "can we have one of your kittens" and laugh about it. I have not yet seen my brother to ask him if it is a ball or burmese but I will. I was thinking irresponsible owners too and I just wanted to see if people agreed with me. I will print this off for my brother and his friend.

So who’s lying in this story? You or them? I know for sure that the 12 foot ball python thing is a lie, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the kitten thing is a lie too. Sounds like some immature kids just trying to bother you and saying "yeah my big bad snake eats adorable defenseless kittens oooooh". I honestly can’t picture a ball python eating kittens. Sometimes it’s hard enough getting them to eat mice or rats...so kittens? I doubt it. I’m also not ruling out the possibility of you making this up just to cause some fuss on here. Either way, the bull$h!t meter is through the roof.

Well ok then I am not trying to start bullsh-- here, I am sooooo serious believe me or not. I know it sounds stupid but wasn’t sure that if people would think that it was, because I had NO clue. They do have the snakes and I am pretty sure they said that one was a ball, but that could have been my mistake, not yet asked him. But the snake did eat the kitten, because he said it did and if he was just trying to get me mad, he did and then after I was really pissed when he told me then he would have just told me that he was kidding and that didn’t happen. I AM NOT A LIAR AND I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP TO START , and I am not a kid and unfortunatly neither is my brother. Don’t get all fussy with me, I am NOT the bad person here just needed a little bit of advise I guess you would say, because I thought that it was crappy to feed a fricken kitten to a snake and let a lone what it could do to the snake with its claws. Im sorry that you don’t believe me, thats your choose, but I didn’t come here with this question to get judged I came here for a little knowledge, because I knew it wasn’t right, that is all I am saying to you!

Evidentaly I can’t do something about it! But oh well who cares, All I wanted to know is what everyone else thought about it. Theres a lot of stupid things people feed there snakes, like bunnies, they’re more cute then cats, and people still do it. I didn’t ask for you to do anything about it did I, NO I didn’t. So whatever, people always feed their pets crazy things like turtles to aligators and Burger King to turtles, lol What ever, just wanted opinions, and I got yours, so go.......

hold on here...rabbits are a necessary food item for larger constrictors. There is no need to feed small bunnies as a jumbo rat is larger but rabbits need to be consumed. sorry if they are cute but thats the way it has to be. They are readily available and cheap.

Also, sorry to burst your bubble, but rabbit is also a food source to humans. And I don’t know about you, but cows, lamb, deer, chickens, they all look cute and adorable to me. But us humans still eat it.What shouldn’t be eaten though, is cats. I don’t care how you try to justify it, but feeding a kitten is both wrong and cruel to the snake and the kittens. I don’t think kittens would have the necessary protein and nourishment for a ball python. Also it’s just morally wrong and cruel. I seriously hope you’re joking around. If I knew someone who was acting like an a$$hole and feeding stupid sh!t to their snake, I’d beat their a$$ and make sure they never own something they obviously aren’t mature enough for. And I still don’t understand why you posted this. You wanted our opinion of the matter? Did you think we were all going to say "Oh yeah, that’s normal. kittens are a natural staple of the ball pythons diet". Like I said, anyone with common sense would know this is wrong and should be stopped.  Oh, and I’ve never known anyone to feed burger king to turtles. Personal thing? You and/or whoever you’re speaking of in these stories should be outlawed to keeping pets like this. Good day.

People lik ethat don’t deserve pets. Rabbit is a main food source for large constrictors. And kittens are not. you disgust me and I am not posting on this thread any longer. It is morrally wrong to do so, when obviously she didn’t come here for advice to make them stop, she came to be funny and thought it was cool that her brother feeds his poor snakes poor kittens. She obvioulsy doesn’t give a crap and she should.

I feel much the same way, Vigor. I don’t care if anyone else does it. Cuts down on the cat population. Personally, I wouldn’t do it for a couple of reasons.
1) I have had some very cool cats as pets..
2) Cats have the equipment to shred a snake pretty well.
3) Too expensive.
But that’s just me. In some parts of the world, people think it’s wrong to eat cattle. But almost everyone (in the US at least) eats burgers and steak and jerky nearly every day. It’s all perspective.

The big problem with this is the image the rest of the people get about the herp comunit from it...u can explain away rabbits pretty easily especialy since u can buy them frozen, and at least people have heard of them as a food source...u r not going to convince peopel household pets are a food source....they won’t listen, they’ll react...we don’t need that, ymmv however.
