 New members vs established members

I am a new member tonight and just got JUMPED in my other post about my new snakes RI.
ANYWAys please be aware that when new members join they are unable to reply or recieve anything from the message center for 4-5 DAYS also this is not a NORMAL site, there is no way a new member can know that there posts will be replied to SO FAST. A normal forum/site would take days/weeks for a reply from someone not MINUTES like in here.

Actually... if you go back and re-read the post... your thread was hijacked and another member was being jumped on.

But welcome and this is a very active forum.

Also this forum is full of people that are passionate about bps and do not sugar-coat things. If someone asks for advice they get a frank and honest response.

yes MP got jumped because they were mistaken as being me. They got jumped because they didn’t respond to the message sent to ME. They didn’t answer the questions sent to me, they answered every question I was supposed to and in turn was told they didn’ care about there snake because they didn;t accept the 1 on 1 help offered to me.
Yes I accept that this is a big mess due to my post getting hijacked, however I just feel that established members need to be a LITTLE understanding that new members are going to be unaware of how things work in here. especially if the rules are as precise as 1. No Rude Behavior (rude is relative to the person on the recieving end.) and 4.Do not "hijack" a thread, keep your post consistant with the original post, or please start a new thread.
Thanks

I stand corrected!

I PM’d the OP...And thought that was you!

My confusion stems from that fact that you Hijacked the OP’s thread.

that was Scylla’s reply....he did say he thought it was you..it obviously was not, honest mistake...there are alot of people that do come here and ask question then act like the answers given are not good enough...unfortunatley people who want the advice and pay attention to it sometimes get offered the advice in quick-to-the-point fashion...which can be taken as rude, but I am sure it wasnt meant to be.

I read your post. It actually was not that irksome to begin with, but after rereading. Wow. You have nerve.

That is a first.

This forum is used to people popping on and getting PO’d when other people offer to help them fix their bad husbandry, spoon feed them advice... and refuse to follow it with teaspoon of sugar.

But this is a first. You are annoyed that your post was answered so fast?

You posted that your snake had a potentially fatal condition... and you were going to sit on it for a few weeks. Then someone hijacked your thread, someone who also had a sick snake...

No one offering you advice has sick snakes. Our snakes are thriving and healthy.

YOU ARE WELCOME!

Seriously YOU ARE WELCOME!

Did I mention that YOU ARE WELCOME!

Oh, that is right, you did not actually thank anyone in this post or the last one...

Bruce

PS: Get your snake to the vet.

First I would just like to apologize again to Pden for sort of stealing thier thread. I thought since i had a quick question on the topic it wouldn’t do any harm. And I can see that I’m to blame for all the confusion.

That post did upset me, to have other people think that I didn’t care about my animals, especially when I’ve been worried sick all day that every thing about his tank wasn’t absolutely perfect for him. But I see now that it was just a mistake (which is my fault anyhow). It’s over and done this and it’s best not to start fights over the matter.

Bruce, seriously, you cannot make anyone say thank you or even be thankful so what was the point of that? If you give advice, share wisdom, do it without expecting anything. Just the giving of it should be enough without expecting any "payback". When you were new did I or Robin or Deb ever expect you to make a fuss over us when we helped you? Sure it’s nice to be thanked but seriously, the best thank you in the world for me is that somebody’s snake gets a better deal in life, that some newcomers becomes a more confident keeper.

I agree Franky. I was not expecting a thank you. I think it was just pointing out to the person that if people are helping them, sometimes they need to acknowledge and respect that even if only internally.

The original thread got messy.. but it was not directed at the OP. The person that is was directed to seemed to get that , and I think is going to get some great advice.

I try and keep a relatively fair head. I will *mostly* avoid the snark. If there are 8 people in a thread cutting someone down I try to actually answer the questions. But this particular post did irk me when I reread it.

And I get the OP’s point... but this time it just kinda irked me.

I know there is a lot bullying on this sight and threads go off in tangents that are not helpful and do not offer solid advice. So I do try and stay in those threads and address the concerns. Truly I do. When members start telling other members they are ugly and have bad hair... I seethe.

And yes, if it had not been for you, robin, deb and chris I would not have the skills I have now. I am always the first to acknowledge that I do think i pay it forward.

Thanks for the thoughtful and well-worded post :)

bruce

Bruce, don’t ever take that sort of post from me as being mean spirited or to demean. I would expect truly the same from anyone I call a friend if they felt I needed a word on something I posted. Friends trust each other enough to sometimes say something that isn’t easy to say (at least my closest friends do). I’m just growing concerned, which I expressed in Kojak’s lastest thread, about the tone of this site and how it’s seeming to affect people I think as a friends.

I could not be more proud of you Bruce and the dedication you show to the animals you care for. It’s a joy to see that dedication shared by you here and I hope that never changes.
