He did not lay eggs...but he is eating again. Wordy update :)
And Magda... who needs a new name due to his lack of girlness... took his third meal as well. My two longest holdouts are still holding out. Jules my retro normal male, and Yvon my het-blue. Yvon is all over the tongue flicking and it attentive, but he is just not ready to take the leap. But I saw that with Zoltan... same thing... it took 3-6 weeks of threatening to take a rat till he did. He had such a strong feed response tonight it was fantastic. When I got him he was a crazy aggresive feeder, and he still has it. I am not sure the rat’s feet really settled on the bottom of the tub before he struck. His wieght was constant up till he started eating again... he lost a whopping 60g during his entire fast. We call that having a snake poop. Jules... *sigh*... he has not eaten since the day I dropped my temps. As soon as we started prepping the snakes to breed I moved him out of the rack so that his temps would not drop. But that boy patrolled day and night... he was looking for girls and trying to keep his slim physique and has not so much as looked at a rat since. One of the reasons I really wanted to get the ASFs happening was mostly for him and Magda. Both rescues, and both picky eaters since day one. Jules is the snake I have with the head and tail scars from living with his rats, while Magda is the snake I got last year that had been burned by an uncontrolled heating source. I need to post some new pics of Magda’s stomach though. All his wounds are closed and healed and his scars are really getting to be less with each shed now that he is not directing all that energy into healing. Any name suggestions for Magda? I am at a loss... never had to rename a snake. Keep in mind that Peter Parker is still Peter Parker even though she has given me many vibrant healthy litters of pups. :) Bruce PS: Kevin has eaten so well this season, I am currently cutting him back a bit. I am feeding him 2 out of 3 times till he misses 3 meals. The boy is getting a bit too girthy. Mon petit saucisse! The other boys all the same age, are 900g, 1100g, and Kevin is hovering b/w 1600 and 1700g. My boy is going to be a big one! Old pics... but what is a thread without pics right? :) Zoltan.

It is hard to switch names on them. I did think of calling him either Ash or Markus, after my 2 sweet males that have since passed away. But it did not feel right. I did consider Vlad briefly. Bruce |

I put a freshly thawed prey in and they all refuse to eat it . (I can stick the same prey in another snakes tank ansd she eatsd it like it her first meal in months.. )most of my group are rats only but they seem to have a preferance for the one i breed myself to over the other rodents offered? They seem to turn their nose to any other prey rat mouse don’t matter either if alive or ft. |

Not yet, but I do have a calendar that I am going to throw in the garbage as all the dates are wrong. Both of the girls are in their dishes still. And even though I was certain of Linda being further along, I looked in this week, and sure enough... ovulating in her dish. So I may be OK on my trip, as I think I am still pre-pre-lay shed. :) I may lose my mind before this is over! You have spoiled them by giving them quality food. :) They are funny though, as all my snakes spent close to a month acting like they were going to eat... but never taking the hit, then just one day... *bang* and then each missed a meal... but the second meal took it and have been eating since. Just seems they need to have everything back on track before they take the plunge again. Bruce |

I can’t wait to see your first babies! Mike and I are currently waiting on three more girls to lay and it’s just taking forever it seems. I swear if a person didn’t have a lot of patience going into this hobby, they should have to learn some, you just can’t hurry these darn snakes at all LOL. |

LOL. I know the wait is hard...I have some gecko eggs I’m tired of waiting on. I just want to see those babies! As for the name, I like Vlad, but if you wanted to make it similar to Magda, you can maybe go with Magne, which means mighty warrior in Norse. Or maybe Magnus. Good luck! |
