 Eww that’s nasty

Well I now know what an exploded mouse looks like. That was disgusting. Though I have no Idea why that happened. I did it the same way I did the others. Maybe it was too old or something ugh. But now Edward has to wait yet ANOTHER day for his food. I feel bad... Though I’ve been fusing over his cage so much I doubt he’d have eatten anyway.

I recently posted about that so I will again

Quote:

You either thawed the mouse in water that was too hot - Thawing in hot water to accelerate the process makes the skin more fragile and often lead to exploding preys!

Or the mouse has be thawed before and froze again.

My recommendation next time thaw at room temp (this will also allow you to entice your BP to eat by pre-scenting the room) and warm up the mouse with a hair dryer.

I left my mice thaw for a day or so in the fridge, and then take it out and let it get room temperature. It worked all the other times so I dunno what the heck happened.

If you got the mouse from a local pet store.. chances are this is probably the cause...

I went to the pet store the other day to look at some thig for my kitty,
and found a f/t on a shelf in the cat section...

I made the manager open the baggie, then throw it away
(so that they Couldn’t put it back up for selling).

In other words low quality mice, find another supplier!

actually... now that i think back.... i think it was my fault. I didn’t get to the bag right away and i think they might have thawed a bit too much. Or atleast that last one did. So that would explain it >< I think

I can tell you what you’re doing wrong...if you want to hear it and make the corrections!?!?

But I would still try a live mouse.

Let me know.
