 Pastave?

Ok, I was doing a little searching online for different morphs, and I saw a mix between a Pastel and a Mojave that they were calling a Pastave. Is that the technical or real term or just one they made up? Also, is this mix often done, and if so, can you point me towards a reputable website so I can read more about it, and also is it very sought after? Lots of questions. I can house a snake, its the breeding that always gets me.

 Pastave?

I hate the name but this is the one used.

Not sure if it is a thought for combo? Personally I would rather have a Lesser Pastel than a Pastave, just like I would rather have a lesser than a mojave.

OK, GA, time to explain yourself. 1. why do you like the lesser better than a mojave? 2. what do you mean by lesser... lesser platinum? 3. what’s a lesser pastel look like?

 Pastave?

On their own I like the lesser better, just a question of personal taste, I have came across 1 or 2 Mojave that I really like though but in the long run Lesser does it for me, just like I like Black Pastel more than I do Cinnamon.

When it comes to Supers: BEL (Blue Eye Leucistic) there is no comparison, the Super Lesser is much cleaner than the Super Mojave.

I also like the Kingpin better than I do the Jigsaw (Now I know I am confusing you!)

Kingpin = Pinstripe X Lesser
Jigsaw = Pinstripe X Mojave

And here is the Lesser Pastel Link

Why can’t you just have both GA? A lesser AND a mojave? I personally love the pastel/mojave!

 Pastave?

Aren’t you just a dissension starter? Confusing you, eh? When my wife and I went to the Daytona show last year, my wife loved lesser platinums, of course I look at the price and say, wow, Mojaves are so much prettier, lol. From what I’ve seen, lessers are about, what you say, twice that of mojaves? Ouch. not ready for that. I understand their appeal though...
The name Pastave is so cool (if you say it right,) it reminds me of some Italian food. Not that I’d turn a snake into an Italian dish or anything.

The bottome line is to get what YOU like and what you can afford, I pick my snakes according to what I like or the coombos I want to achieve and Majave don’t fit my projects as of now, but you know what they say never say never

Well, maybe the way things work out, in about 4 years you might be coming to me wondering if for old times sake you can get a Pastave.

Ok, let me get this straight oh gene gurus... A pastel can affect a dominant gene because it is a co-dominate. But yet it still reacts to a codom the same way. That makes no sense to me. I understand codoms working together, but not codoms working with doms. I guess I’m just slow concerning genes. I really don’t like not knowing, and I love learning...

I want Lesser Platinums because they make much cleaner Blue-Eyed Leucistics than Mojaves do. A male Lesser can be had for $900-1200 right now, so why not..

I like Pastave, but I also really like the snake produced... and I never understood why people hate the name so much? In all honestly I think the world would be a simpler place if people just used the name of the combo.

Especailly when you have several breeders producing the same snake, calling them by different name, and none of the names actually tell you what the snake is. :)

I have also heard them called Motels MO(jave)(pas)TEL.

But another name, rarely used for pastels, in an Opel... so I prefer to call them MOOPs. MO(jave)OP(el)... not sure it will ever catch on though.

As far as codoms and doms working together... with one of each... they are both going to be expressed. So any different dom and codom combination there will be an expression of each. *usually* with both being expressed equaly so that you can imagine what the combo will look like if you know how the individual genes are expressed.

I.e. Yellow belly or pastel combos tend to be predictable.

The tricky ones are the combos that make the Lucies... those will actually mix and match.. and different combos will create the same effect as the super version. I think GA mentioned the combos that make a Blue-EL above.
