today was the one week break in period and i offered a mouse. he at first struck in defense but then wraped 2 coils and went to town.

thanks he had a pretty good strike and fast coil. jsut wish my other ball would eat his 2 per week but lately he only wants one. hell heat first constrict second and leave it. oh well.

Did I read that correctly? You are feeding your pythons TWICE per week? the minimum period of time to wait before meals is 5 days (hatchling-250g) then they should be eating once per week. You are powerfeeding. This can cause the snake to go off feed, possibly for months, because of feeling food.

I think that FT meant 2 per feeding session?

I would say though that based on the pics, that looks like an appropriately size rat for a once a week feeding.

If the snake is only taking one, then that is all he needs...

thanks. and in that statement i was taling about my other ball who is 900 grams which eats 2 breeder mice a week but lately he eats one.

The baby Vice is eating 1 adult mouse weekly

Congrats on the feeding! I wouldn’t worry about the 900 grammer. If he wants his second course he’ll eat it, if he doesn’t he won’t. Is he getting the first mouse fully down into his body cavity first (well past the skinnier neck bit) before you offer the second one? Are you offering the second mouse after the first is swallowed but not too long afterward. Ssometimes being too fast to offer isn’t good, but neither is too slow - it’s a bit of a balancing act and pretty dependent on the feeding response of that particular snake.

i wait till he sets his head down and flicks tounge then i offer second one. he struck it and constricted but then let it go. so im thinkin the first hit the stomach and was enough for him
