Getting another BP! Hey, well im not getting the 3ft. BP that I wanted, instead I got an offer from Mike Wilbanks for a baby that I couldn’t let pass. I can’t say how much e is letting me have it for, because someone might have bought from him and they might have paid differently. I will say that he is giving me the offer because I have participated in his forum. And I will say that the price I am paying is under 50$ including shipping, and I am geting a tshirt with it. But anyway back to the point, it eats adult f/t mice, and I am not sure how long it is, but he said it was really pretty. Since it is on frozen, I don’t want to ruin a good thing, so I am going to buy from rodent pro.com. but, I need to know how long it takes for those to ship, so I can have them here when the BP arrives. So, for anyone who buys from rodentpro.com, how long does it take for them to be shipped? And help me think of names!

Getting another BP! They should have that information on the site? And it might be different depending on your location. And since I don’t live near you, I wouldn’t know. Sorry! ~Ryo~

Getting another BP! Cool, I like the book "The series of unfortunate events" (I am reading the series) and I might name it "Mr. Poe" after the banker in it. Or "Count Olaf" after the evil man that is trying to steal the Baudelaire fortune.

Getting another BP! I went to rodentpro.com, and I did an online quote, it said it would be $19.95 for the mice, but then it would be $28.95 for shipping? And the grand total would be $48.34? How is shipping that much? I got 50 weanling mice. or thats what the quote was for.

Actually its pretty cheap....... When is the best time to feed? When they just "get up" or later in the evening when the house is quiet? We’ll be feeding Zoe for the first time today. Also, I know that it is better to feed frozen/thaw or even fresh killed, but we just got her about 2 wks ago and she is still a little stressed, so I don’t want to change anything else right away. She has been eating 6 live mice, I would like to switch her to rats, any suggestions on how or when to do this?Sorry if this is a stupid ??.

Actually its pretty cheap....... Ask the previous owner when she usually fed, then fed at that time if applicable. To switch to rats get her off live MICE, get her on FT!!! 6 live mice a week is a huge waste of money and time. To start feeding on FT try first stunning or killing the mice (place mouse in bag slam hard once on desk/wall) after it takes two successful consecutive (2 seperate feeding days) fresh kill feedings. Try switching to FT to do that first fresh kill the mouse (in bag slam hard several times) then place it in the freezer for at least 6 hours to freeze completely. Then thaw it out and heat it up (place in ziplock bag place the bag in hot water for 15 minutes) then offer it to your snake. If your snake takes that then feed the rest of the mice like that. After 3 feedings of ALL FT mice you can start trying to switch to rats. 6 adult mice is about a medium rat. So get a small FROZEN rat (50-80 grams,4.5’6") and 2 of the frozen mice. thaw everything and then rub a mouse on the rat heavily. Feed the mouse that was not on the rat then the mouse that was then the rat. If it takes the rat you are doing great. Do that for 2 consecutive feedings then only feed one mouse before the small rat for 2 consecutive feedings. Then after that try offering a small rat by itself, if it takes that go buy yourself a present. After it starts takeing rats it will be most economical to buy online. since your female has gotten used to mice it might not take to rats readily.

Actually its pretty cheap....... When I went to get the mice they were out of live, the girl knows that I was going to switch to rats, so I got a live small rat. We fed that to her and she took it within 2 seconds. The girl told me that it would hold her for about a week. (It was 6 mice every 2 weeks) Next time we’re going to do the fresh kill to see how she does then we’ll try frozen. I know the benefits of giving dead v. alive, however, is there benefits between fresh & frozen?

Actually its pretty cheap....... Yes. Fresh can still carry parasites and stuff like that, which can harm your snake. But when you freeze a rodent for a while, it’ll kill off the parasites. But, with fresh killed, it still has that fresh rodent scent, and warmth. But...to get around that, just make sure you warm up the thawed rodent nicely. I’ve only fed frozen thawed and its so easy. My bp takes it within a few seconds all the time, and its safer. No bites, no parasites, no problems. Oh, and boababe, why are you ordering 50 mice? Or is that how many are in a bag and you cant choose the actual amount? That sucks then..cuz often people wont have to use all that, so they paid for rodents they wont use. I like my little canadian site that lets you buy however many you want. I’m ordering 5 large mice, 5 weaned rats, and 5 small rats. Since I figure my bp can take a weaned rat right now, but I’ll just keep her on the large mice until they’re gone. Then put her on the weaned rats. By the time those are done she’ll be big enough for a small rat. Then by the time those are done, I should be able to order 5 small rats and some medium rats. It’s easier than having to buy like 50 rodents, when your growing bp will grow out of those soon enough and be on adult mice...then rats...etc.

Actually its pretty cheap....... Thats the minimm you can order, because 50 are in a bag, and you can choose how many bags you want. I did the math, and with 50 mice, and 3 snakes, it should last about 4 months.

Small???? A small rat seems kinda well, small for a ball python of your females size. It is also to large to be fed live safely. The rat should be the width of your female or slightly larger. For rats the largest size you should feed live are rat pups. As weaned rats and larger are not blind and can easily injur your snake.

Getting another BP! I love that series! (Of course the only one I’ve really read is ’The Reptiel Room’ because of the reptiles!) I love the fact that the ’Incrdibly Deadly Viper’ isn’t even harmful to anything. You could name it Motgomery after ’Montgomery Montgomery’, the reptile guy in the book...LGL

Getting another BP! Gizmo, from Gremlins!!I had a doggy I named Gizmo because he had a big patch over his eye just like Gizmo in the movie. Sad though...poor doggy....was horribly beaten and neglected as a puppy...we got him as a year old doggy that didnt have any trust in humans. He’d literally shake in fear if you approached him. It took about a year or two of TLC to get him to trust man again. Then when we thought everything was going well, he was hit by a car. Lost several teeth, snout and jaw was broken, back leg broken, ribs broken...that all heals...but what didn’t heal was the brain damage. After the accident he’d have several seizures daily. The vets gave us the choice of either putting him on very expensive pills for the rest of his life to control them, or put him down. He had several bad spills in his time....the one I remember most is when he collapsed into the christmas tree and had a seizure. We had to lift the tree off of him and untangle him from the lights. We ended up putting him down after a week of seizures. Poor thing. Wow....all that came out of someone mentioning the name Gizmo....oops, lol.

Getting another BP! I agree with you people are really sick. We live in the country and people let dogs out around here all the time. Of the eight dogs we have, six are strays. I wish they would let me take the people who put animals in the back of a C-130 (Big air force transport plane) and toss their a** somewhere over the jungle and let them survive there. I would give them a parachute but only one.
