Pink belly...now what? We have finally started to handle Zoe. After the bite, then waiting while she gets comfy, then we fed her, so yesterday was the first....and guess what?!!! Pink belly! Now we can’t hold her right? Doesn’t this mean she’s about to shed. How long after the pink shows up? Her eyes are not clouded but she does look kind of dull. She did seem kind of "tense" to be held, but it could be that she’s not used to it.

Pink belly...now what? shed is on the way. It could be the beginning or the end actually. After the eyes hit "blue" they go back to a darker appearance right before the shed.

Pink belly...now what? Thanks.I’ve read that the pink belly means a shed is coming, but I don’t remember how long after. The eyes haven’t turned blue yet. I think they also said to leave them alone during this time, right? Mell thanks for replying. Good luck with your snake. We just got ours too. But ours is 2 1/2 yrs old. So it’s pretty set in its ways. The previous owner didn’t have much contact with it, so we’re taking it very slow. Names? I have no idea. Check the word for snake in different languages. I believe thats what someone on here did. Pretty good idea, it would be original also. Good luck!

Pink belly...now what? Isabella had a pink belly about 2 weeks ago and just last week she started to shed. I’m no expert eiter but I’d say your bp should be fine. Isabella had scales peeling back and drying up too and she’s fine, but ya i’d ask other more knowledgable people.

Pink belly...now what? If by tommorrow Zoe isn’t in shed(blue cloudy eyes), you can go ahead and feed as usual. But with blue eyes it stressed them out since they can’t see too well and aren’t on their best hunting game. Even if you feed prekilled or frozen thawed, the snake usually doesn’t know, so to them they’re facing a live prey item with bad vision, lol.As for shedding...here’s how it usually goes. You’ll notice their belly being pink and their skin may start to look dull. That could show up a week before they even shed. My ball Pelota had a pink belly for a week or so before she even got cloudy blue eyes. Once their eyes go cloudy, bump up their humidity to around 70-80% to aid in a healthy clean shed. Their eyes will stay blue for about 4 days, then clear up. Once the eyes are cleared up, you can expect a shed within a few days. This can be different for others, but that’s how my bp’s sheds go. Pink belly for a week, then blue eyes for 3-4 days. Then clear up and shed. From the start of the cloudy eyes, to the end of shedding, it’s usually a week to 10 days. Good luck.

Pink belly...now what? Thank you sooo much! One more ? Should we pretty much leave her alone duing the entire cycle. I heard "moodiness" might be an issue. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Pink belly...now what? I have handled my bp through her shed from start to finish. I didn’t notice a change in temperment. She was actualy using my hands to help with her shed. Just go with the flow, if your handling your BP and it seems to be stressing out, put her back .. etc etc ... I think by handleing her for short periods often will help to tame her more, aswell. Just make sure your hands don’t smell like a mouse, and move slowly because his vision my be skewed.

Pink belly...now what? I, and others, would recommend keeping handling to a minimum during the shed process. It’s a very stressful time on them, and they’d usually rather be left alone to rest up for the big shed. Also I’ve heard that it can be a painful process to them. Sorta like a sunburn....so imagine your whole body has a nice red sunburn and your skin is peeling and stuff. Would you wanna be handled? I wouldn’t.

Pink belly...now what? You can also soak her in warm water in a tupperware container to help make shedding easier
