 This upsets me very much!

I went to the petshop to get mice, and this teenage guy was looking at kinnk and slick, those are the adult BPs they have had for 8 months so I named them, and he was telling his friend " I want one of those" "why" his friend replied,"because its a python, it’ll get big" I about slapped the crap out of the guy! And he knows nothing abotu them! He came to the petshop to get his friend a rabbit! Gosh it has been bothering me all night! I am scared that he got it, cus he wont know what to do! I feel bad for those snakes, 1.) Cus they have been in the petshop for so long. 2.) because he possibly will buy one of them. And for some reason I don’t want the petshop to sell them, because I am kind of attached lol. I have been looking at them once a week for the past 9 months, I would be sad if someone so ignorant like him bought them.

I had a similar experience with a teenage kid at a local pet store about a year ago. He told the clerk that he wanted a snake that, "would be nice and mellow but get really big, ’cause that would be really cool ’n stuff!"

Although I felt upset, I didn’t show it. Instead, I struck up a conversation with him and started educating him about snakes in general and the species he was looking at. I bored him at some length about the pros, the cons, the responsibility and longevity of snakes, etc. I don’t know if he ever purchased a snake, but I’m sure he had a much better idea of what he was getting himself into. Sometimes, hard as it can be, you have to try to turn a negative into a positive. Keep your chin up BoaBabe! With some luck kinnk and slick will be there the next time you pickup snacks for your critters.

Yea, I really hope so. I was gonna be like, well snakes are alot of responsability, and you have to give alot of your time devoted to them etc. but then my ride was honking so I had to go, I really hope he didn’t get the snake, not just cus I like them being at the petshop (lol) but for the sake of the snake.

He didn’t get it. I went back today to get stuff for Quigley’s (my new BP that arrives tues.) tank, and they were in their. I was so glad to see their cute little faces. I think next time I go in I am going to ask if I can hold one, because I really want to, they let me hold other snakes, so I think they’d let me hold it.
