Does a ballpython suit me? 
I suggest reading everything in this forum and others BEFORE deciding whether or not to get one. It is a big commitment, not to be taken lightly. Yes they could bite. Males get to be about 4 feet long, females a little bigger, but you will find that in these discussions. Read, read, read. I got the snake first, now I’m reading, DO THE RESEARCH FIRST!!
