Same topic, new post... pastel babes. :)
The lighting my house is all *ambient* so getting a clear pic is awful. I have to use some form of halegen spots, and the normals were just a big brown-yellow-orange glow... but the pastels turned out OK. These are just details from a group shot, so excuse the quality of them... I do not have one of those magic stewart cameras.

Compare those to Zimmerman’s head when he pipped... quite the difference. I thought that Olive would throw better pastels than Linda, but now that I look at Linda, she dark in a *different* way. Guess she’ll get another date with Zoltan, and Olive may have to stick to the het recessive boys. :) So here’s Zimmerman and his sister (RIP). As noted, these were Linda’s offspring.

I sold the male normal and held back 3 female normals p-het hypos. I have a few people bugging me for normal females, but now that Olive’s have hatched they’ve forgotten about poor Linda and all want one of Olive’s babes. I know which was the first one to hatch of Linda’s, AKA my first BP to hatch ever, and she’ll stay here for life. Her name WAS Jeff, but I just changed it to Mae. :) I have a friend that REALLY wants to get hands on Zimmerman, but I will hang onto him and one of the male pastels from this clutch so that I can get an idea of how they color up. Any pastel females will stay with me. And yes, Linda’s 2 pastel offspring were much nicer IMHO. But then again, pastels can change so much, I’ll have to wait and see what happens with them. But when Zimmerman pipped I sent a pic to a breeder that I know and he emailed me back to congratulate me on my Super Pastel... I do want to get the selective breeding down with the pastels, so it was good to have a variance in the two clutches. The base morph for most of my breeding plans are pastels, so it’ll be nice to get a few girls (magic number would be 3...). Bruce PS: I made those snakes! |

1 female normal (p-het hypo)
AND I got my girl! Introducing Xena. Pronounced: K’ sen ya. A good Russian name. I will not even say how long I have had the name picked out. It is an homage to a young woman named Xena.
Ugh... yes, there will be more pictures to come. :rofl: Bruce PS: Xena, has her dad’s trident on the top of her neck stripe, actually 3 of the pastel babes have it... dad as a babe.

I have a feeling that once we get caught up on everything there will be a few new little ones that show up here. Hehe. They are pretty darn sweet. I have been more involved with this clutch by far. I slit but didn’t cut the eggs or trim them back till last night. I had two still in the egg, a normal and a pastel, so I cut them sunroofs and they pretty much figured "nuts to that" and both left the eggs simultaneously. It was VERY cool to see. :) I sexed them all and the final tally is 4.1 pastels, and 3.1 normal p-het hypos. Still a bit amazed that I only got one girl pastel from the clutch. But she is a beauty so I am pretty happy. I’ll holdback 3. 1.1 pastels, and the 0.1 normal. The normal is a really light yellow, or at least lighter than her sibs. The female pastel is Xena, and the female normal is Beatrice. The male pastel...I am thinking of Benoit, but not sure. I was thinking of Gustavo for the pastel, but changed that due to the hurricane. I shot a few vids of them last night, so I’ll U-Boob them soon. As well will do more pics after I set everyone up and re-pop them all. Bruce |
