LOST BP - First day of having it!! HELP!!

I put my snake in the bathroom, drains closed, toilet lid shut, I even put a towel tucked outside the bathroom door. When I got home with his new cage (I just purchased snake yesterday). I opened the bathroom door and he was no where to be found!! I have a five and six year old and am scared to death. The snake is about two years old I was told. I can’t even see it getting out under the door, there is hardly any room. What do I do??? Please someone help me.

There is little I can say without seeming mean or condescending....Wow...what were you thinking...It is a SNAKE!!....it can easily push a toilet seat up...fit in holes you never would think it could fit in...Check all holes, vents....You probably feel really dumb.....Understandably...

First, ball pythons aren’t going to hurt your children, but I’m confused why you purchased a snake before you had an enclosure ready for it? Was this snake an impulse buy? Because generally you purchase your set-up BEFORE you choose your snake.

Ball pythons are escape artists, and having free rein of the bathroom, it could be anywhere - look near anything that’s warm.

If you think that it left the bathroom you can put flour lines along the entrances to rooms, hallways, etc. Check the lines at night because that’s most likely when your BP will be on the move.

LOST BP - First day of having it!! HELP!!

I bought it at the state fair grounds at the exotic show. I bought a tank and everything that goes with. When I got home I noticed the tank was crack under the wrap it was in, they closed so I had to wait till Sunday to exchange. Putting in bathroom yeah, of course now I realize STUPID!!! Anyway I did the flour thing last night, stayed up all night in the dark with a flash light and every once in a while cased the house. NOTHING! I even did the whole put it’s prey in a bottle with holes, set it in his New cage so may be in would entice him. I even put a heating blanket on the floor next to it all. Any other suggestions? Thank you for helping...

have you all tried to feel around (under thesink/ tiolet fittings) the snake make of climb up on them and is hiding since it scared. I also say if possible check behind the tiolet itself cause the gap might be just enought for it to get between it and the wall to hide. and they can hid for a while when they feel scared ( until hunger forces them to look if they move them) as for the food and heat source they would work better in the last room the snake was in ( iplace a the pad on the floor and the pad on low with a bath towel on it so th snake can feel like it hiding and may stay there were it warm .I also say put thedimmer/ other control to lower the temp a little more since it possible for the snake ot get burn ontheheating pad.
I think a large butter bowel might work better with the snake since it larger enough to not fit into a 2 liter size bottle .

Yes I looked in side and out of anything you can possibly imagine in the bathroom, it’s not really that big so very few places it could have gone, even tight ones. To tell you the truth it had to have gone in the toilet or under the door. The door space was thin as is was and I even put a towel under it tightly but I am only taking guesses at this point. I would think more likely than not it would have squeezed under the door than gone in the toilet, but haven’t heard anything yet about snakes and tiolets.... The other funny thing is I have two cats and a maltese dog, and I would have thought that they would sense it or have seen it and they are calm as water. What does anyone out there thinK? Thanks alot I need all the support right now I can get.

The smaller the snake the more places they can be. You’d be surprised at how they can wedge their bodies into tight places.

Don’t expect to find your snake within a matter of days. She could turn up months later. The last thread about a lost snake had someone posting about finding their snake an entire year later. Just don’t give up hope and keep doing the things the people on here tell you.

"You’re not STUPID! You just didnt realize. He’s still in the house, trust me. Before the hurricane(BTW Im from New Orleans, La. ) but anyway before the hurricane Gustav we lost our Texas Rat snake, the snake snuck out his cage, I guess the stuff I had piled on top wasent enough weight on the screen top, but anyway about a week after we got back home we found him hiding under the tv and the only reason we found him was because he was shedding, we found his shedding. lol We ended up letting him go, Texas Rat snake are highly aggressive snakes, but my husband found him at work, brought him home because he was skinny, we fattened him up a bit. We let him go in our shed where he will be happy and have lots of rats and mice. We bought some mice and let them loose in the shed also. But anyway my point was it is possible to find him once he’s gotten lost. Dont give up, just keep looking. Im so sorry for your lost & I hope he returns to you..."
