"Do ya’ll know what the babys would look like, my husband is better at this than I am, he knows stuff, but he’s not on here cause he’s not BIG on computers. My cousin also breeds them, he has for many years, Ive never really been into it until recently, the handling of snakes I mean. But he introduced me to one of his adult BPs that was very sweet and it kinda made me interested..."

"wow, I didnt know that, thanx for the info. My cousin has so many different ones, pastels, albinos, spiders, ect... He lives kinda far away, and by that I mean about 2 hours away, which with todays gas prices is a long way. lol So when I went to visit him, he had some snakes I had never seen before, I dont go there often. Its been awhile, he asked me which one I wanted for free, I point out the one I showed in the pic. well let me correct myself, one like the obe in the pic. And he said no at first, but I begged and begged cause he already has 2 full grown ones just like her. So he said yeah, but you have to pay me at least $250.00, I talked him into $150, but I have to go through and clean his BIG MESSY closet, he has junk in that closet piled to the top, for as long as I can remember, and its a walkin closet. So I have my work cut out for me, but she’s worth it..."

Breeding snakes... I don’t know what a tiger stripe ball python looks like, but if bred with that snake in the photo...they would look quite similar to the tiger stripe snake I presume but some might have the black spots on the belly lined up on the sides near the tail.

"A tiger striped BP is I guess something I came up with, cause he looks like he has tiger stripes, he’s a regular BP. My husband wants to breed him when he (theBP) is ready. So I had been looking for a beautiful female and luckily I talked my cousin into selling me his for what seems to be a steal, but the catch is I have to do some chores for him, cleaning his big messy walkin closet. Even so, I think I am getting the better deal here. I was just asking what the babys would look like. I was curious. And thanx for letting me know, that was very sweet of you..."

Breeding snakes... And since I am expressing my right to post on this forum, then, yes, I have heard people discuss Tiger BPs when they are referring to Reduced Pattern normals (could also be genetic, though). They do look a bit like they have a tiger pattern. & you would get 100% Het Pieds if you breed the Normal to the Pied. If you breed one of those males back to the mother later, you would get some Pieds, & some Hets (should be 50/50, but not always).
& $150 is an incredible deal.

Breeding snakes... Listen, I read your post the other day on the thread about the lost snake, and you seemed to have been trying to make that person feel better (especially after LeggLess called her’dumb’), and I thought that was nice of you. You also seem to be trying to post nice things about new members’ pets, etc. This is why I was pretty surprised when I read the post where you were plain out attacking Bruce. I know sometimes posts can come through as harsher than intended, but keep in mind that everyone on here has a deep love & respect for their animals and they hate seeing any BP (or other animal) in harm’s way.
Trust me, Bruce, GA, Rabernet, are great people with a wealth of information, and I look up to them as me teachers in the BP world. If it weren’t for them, I don’t know if I would be able to take as good a care of my BPs. You should really try to ease up & learn from them. Just some advice because it seems part of you wants be to stay on this forum on positive terms.

"I understand what you are saying, I really do, but if you can imagine this: As soon as I got here I posted how sweet my BP is and how im my opinion he seemed seems to like being held, when I come around the tank, he slithers over towards me. I dont hold him 24/7, but when I have handled him it doesent seem like he minds. He/she jumped my case which I really dont appreiciate, I just got here and he/she was rude to me from the get go. How can I talk to someone who has tried to humilate me? Talking to me like I was a child, Yes he/ she gave me advice, but not before degrading me infront of everyone. I was extremely offended after reading the 1st part so any adice after that I really didnt care about. How would you like it if you asked the question(quick example): I love my new BP, he gace me a kiss on the cheek.
then I said, "How do you make them do that? whats your trick? LOL I guess your one BP is the exception to the rule, yours must be special, I bet you think that. And you are probly the type to get all upset when someone doesent agree with you. Your snake wasnet kissing you, they never do that, he was just afraid and that is classic fear. ect ect...
Do you feel what Im saying? If he/she could come at me no nicer than that, then dont come at me at all...
And thanx for taking the time to read this, I am just trying to get you to see it from my point of veiw. And all these other people, just took it upon themselves to throw their opinions where it didnt belong, they started being really rude to just because me and Bruce had some words. They dont know me, they only took his/her side because they know him/her(Bruce) They didnt take the time to see who was right or wrong. And even if they did, I dont think they’de care. This is a snake forum, not a popularity conest... or so I thought!"

Breeding snakes... Since you are beating that dead horse to death in yet another thread... the comment about "you’ll have to teach me that trick"... actually was in reference to knowing a snake that well after 4 days.
I mean that really is an amazing feat. Seriously. And to be bonded to a reptile, especially a snake, after 4 days. I am in awe.
You asked for advice, you got it. I assumed you would not take it, or agree with it, which you didn’t.
I am glad you love your snake, but you can seriously cause damage to a snake when you put your needs before its needs. Learn to read your snake, and then worry about what you need. Your snake is not a mammal, and its behaviour is not reflective of other animals you may know.
The advice I gave you is COMMON knowledge. It is not a trade secret. Anyone that had done more than a few minutes research before getting a snake would know that you do not handle it before acclimation is over. And that acclimation is minimum of a week.
I know this is the part where you tell me to get out of your thread and not talk to you... public forum princesss. Suck it up.
And if you don’t want my opinion, don’t discuss me in that public forum.
Bruce
PS: the comment where you called me "snake boy"... uhm, duh... this is a snake forum. Was that supposed to be a clever slagging of me.
PPS: when you toss off adjectives to describe you snake such as "tiger" "banded" etc... you’ll confuse people trying to help you out, as those are actual terms used to refer to specific morphs. Describing the snake would make more sense.

Breeding snakes... As you are asking, I am trying to see it from everyone’s point of view. I did read Bruce’s post, but your original post was hinting at that those people that think snakes don’t like being handled do in fact enjoy it. Honestly, they don’t ’like’ it. Some tolerate it MUCH better than others, and can even be taken to presentations, etc. But most of them just take it because they have to. They do learn to trust their keepers (well, most of them), and some even chill out on your arm (I have a few that do that). But a BP can really be handled to death. The signs would be very subtle so you might not even realize what was happening. I think this is why he was upset, because he knows it’s not a good idea for you to handle your BP, but your first post seems to say that you don’t care what anyone says, yours does. Do you undestand what I’m trying to say? & these guys have all been on here a way long time & have come across very difficult people that endanger their animals.
Maybe that was not how you were trying to come across, but it did seem that way. & he did go back to try to explain to you why it is that it’s not a great idea to handle your snake too often (especially not since he’s new).
I’ve been on forums where there were people that had been on for a million years & thought they knew it all & were rude & condescending . I never bothered to ask any questions on there because I was just going to get upset. But, it’s really not that way on here. This just started the wrong way.
I think you can really learn a lot on here, and it looks like you want to, so I really think you should just try to start new. This is the way I see it: When I was new, I posted questions on here. I never posted that I ’knew’ anything about anything until I felt I had enough experience. & I am still a newbie, so I won’t post replies to many posts because I don’t want to endanger anyone’s BPs. But I do read the replies that the experienced members post & learn from them. I really hope you give it another shot so you & your BP can benefit from what you can learn on here.

"yes, maybe I was wrong, maybe by my BP coming towards me all the time in some twisted reality he was trying to get away from me, rather I was wrong or not he shouldnt have come at me like that. He didnt know me, the first time he ever spoke to me he insulted me, then gave me advice. Im not big on someone pushing me down, then giving me a hand. This is why he has so much conflict with people, he doesent know how to talk to people the nice way, I could think of a thousand ways he could have gave me advice in a nice way, but he chooses not to, but it doesent matter if Im right or wrong, ya’ll take his side because youve known him longer and he some thongs about snakes, that doesent make him superior that makes him useful, but with an attitude like that he can keep his advise. Thats why MAN invented books... Many people in this world have been raising BPs by themselves for hundreds of years without his help and so will I. Anyway I wont be leaving a sympathy letter saying im leaving just to see how many people I have in my pocket and to beg me not to go. Im here, and I will continue to use this site for info, I thought thats what this forum was, but it seems to be a popularity contest. But Im not big on contest either so let him win, while he’s up there filling his royal oats, I’ll be down here with the common folk trying to learn more about my precious Ball Python... After all he is what brought me here... ciao bela"

It’s only been about 20 years that ball pythons have been bred on any scaleable level - they’re still relatively "new" when compared to other species folks have been breeding. The early 90’s were when BP’s started to grab the imagination of breeders.

Breeding snakes... If you have about an hour and a half and want to listen to Kevin McCurly of NERD talk about how he got started with ball pythons (in it’s infancy, really), this is a very good listen. It talks about when morphs were just being discovered and how the pioneers working with ball pythons got started.
When at work, I just pop the headphones on and listen to the show. There are also other great shows you can listen to and learn from as well!
Incidentally, I’m the caller "Robin" and "Frenchie" that he talks about is GABallPythons.
