No fanfare, but I think I am done here...
But it is time to head out. I may do the odd pic and update post, but I will no longer do any advice threads nor check regularly. Lately it has gotten so ridiculous, the fighting, the trolling, the constant need to rehash old crap. It seriously gets old. I pulled back alot after all the nonsense with Katrina and her trolling, etc. We always know the trolls will be banned, but they stir up so much crap before they do. If the site ever gets moderated or there is a better system in place to check for this stuff, then that would be great and a nice incentive to return. What I loved about this site is that it was a great place for people who are/were passionate about their snakes. Those great people still exist, but it seems most people are visiting less and less, and many have stopped coming period, and it is always for the same reasons. And trust me this is not a "please don’t go" thing... I am seriously over it. :) I was talking to Jer tonight that this is always the time of year when things get crazed, and there will be lots of new members that will find the site because they have sick and unstarted bps, and took them on without doing their research and with all that is going on in my life right now I am simply not up to it this year. I do not blame those individuals, as I was one of those people, and this was the first site I found and I got great info from Kojak, Joanna, Robin, Deb, and many others, I have always felt very blessed and know that my snake Ash had a greater quality of life for all the people that took the time to help him get to be a well-established (if even a very sick) snake for the last year and a half of his life. I do think that I have more than paid that information forward. So my dues are paid. If anyone wants to stay in touch I am on several other forums, and have no concerns with pm’ing my contact info. I’ll be checking messages, but not the board, so feel free to get in touch (email, facebook, etc.). And yes, I can answer advice VIA email and PM (I do that as is without any concerns). Take care all... and I’ll be sure to update when the season gets into swing here. *fingers crossed* for female Fires, YBs, Pastels and lots of possible hets that will prove out in a few years. It’s very exhausting to come here and try to help, only to be insulted and mocked as a group and feel drawn into the drama, especially when you’ve been away for awhile. I think Bruce has it right. But - RZ’s loss is another forum’s gain. I may or may not stick around - if things don’t improve, it’s an easy choice. |

It really is a shame, however I believe you are giving the trolls what they want - what THEY think as "a forum free of a-holes" which is absolutely NOT the case. You all have helped me so much, and for so long. I remember coming here years ago... I believe I was reptilequeen or something like that? lol. But I do remember. And you all helped me out so much and now, now that I have enough info I have been giving back in turn, just as you have. I believe it is your right to go - but yes, you will be missed. Deb. Thank you for all your help as well. I hope you don’t leave, but if I were put in your situation I think i’d have to give RZ a rest as well. I willl hate to see the future of this forum if you both leave, Robin and Jason, you as well. I have considered for an instant leaving this forum... But I don’t think I could, even though all who is considering leaving have been my glue to this forum. Besides, someone here needs to stick around and contiunue the legacy LOL! Bruce, I can see you have made up your mind, I will not ask you to stay, as I know it will just make it harder. I wish the best for everyone who decide to go, once it is all said and done - and PLEASE keep in touch with me! Updates, "how are you doing"s, anything, just please don’t leave me LOL! I have seen things worded in ways that offend people and I think that is what started the whole mess that led up to this. I know everyone really cares about these animals and it pisses you off at the things people say and do and I understand that. I think that we just need to bite are tongues sometimes and just explain things in a decent manner and I do know that is hard sometimes. Bruce-I just have to say that I have great respect for you. You have always given excellent advise, sometimes even with humor  . You are one of the few people whom I trust to honestly tell the truth and not try to pass off mis-knowledge or un-truths just to make yourself look better. I hope that which ever forum you choose to occupy you will continue that(as I am sure you will). I also wish you the best of luck with your move and up coming season. I hope you will at least post some pics and updates(or PM a few of us) to let us know how it is going up north. Best of luck and have a good one!
Deb(and Robin)-You know you are the first person I go to when I have a question(as I am sure others do as well). You have helped me tremendously over the past few years. When I first joined this site I was pregnant, my husband was in Iraq, and he left me with a BP and a boa that I knew nothing about and to be honest didn’t even like. Since then yours and Robins help has not only turned me into a lover of snakes but also an educator to others who fear them. I have shown several people how their fears of snakes are unfounded and wrong. And it is all thanks to you two. I have also been able to share my knowledge with others who have problems or need help. All thanks to you. If it had not been for you and Robin I would still be kind of frightened of snakes and we probably wouldn’t own one any more(when our daughter was born I had to fight with my husband to keep our snakes). I have gained much knowledge from you all over the years and I will continue to pass along my knowledge here. Hopefully taking a break for a while will allow things to settle down and allow other people to move along so when/if you guys do come back it will be more peaceful. Thanks for the kind words. I had a bit of time, not sure I will leave. I was certain I would when I posted, but *meh* I am free to change my mind. Seeing how the trolls have free reign, perhaps it is time to join them? I can follow Misery and Brainless, I mean Leggless around and post on everything they do. Just seeing a few posts of people’s new snakes and their breeding plans it would be hard to walk away from that. I have watched people go to amazing lengths on this site and to miss several of your first breeding seasons would just suck. *cough* I feel I have a vested interest in where a few of you end up (as you have promised me 1.1 pairs). :P Bruce |
