 "feeding new young BP"

"leaving the drama alone, Ive said everything Im gonna say on that subject, so please lets not keep the cycle going"

"Anyway my question is at what point does one feed their BP more than 1 mouse? Mine ate one and I was so excited, he had no trouble and is doing quite fine. I havent touched him since or held him, Im well aware of not holding him for a couples days until his food digest. I love my BP very much and I want to feed him properly. Im looking farward to a long life with him and want my BP to live as long as he can...Thanx for your time..."

Over feeding is one of the common mistake in captivity, remember that Ball Pythons are opportunistic feeders.

Yes they could eat several or larger preys however this is not always what is best.

Feeding an appropriate size prey once a week will allow you to have a BP that eat with consistency avoiding long period of fast that are often very frustrated for owners.

Usually younger BP I try to feed every 5 days until they reach about 250 grams than I offer once a week same day every week which allow them to be conditioned and know when feeding day is.

Here is how and what I feed depending on size (it has help me to have BP eating with consistency without having to deal with fast (except for one exception)

BP from hatchling to 250 grams I feed an appropriate size prey once every 5 days (slightly smaller than the girth size (widest part of your BP’s body)

From 250 grams to 450/500 grams: 1 rat pup or one adult mice every 7 days

From 450/500 grams to 1000 grams: small small rat (45/50 grams) or 2 adult mice every 7 days

Over 1000 grams: 1 small rat (65/75 grams – 4 weeks old) or 3 to 4 adult mice

Just make sure the prey is about the size of the widest part of his body, if it is a young BP and you will be fine!
