Touching a bp’s head and neck area... I’ve heard of people saying their bp is comfortable with them peting those areas but X really isn’t so I want to work with it so if anyone knows some techniques or hints that helped them and could post it I would appreciate it.Thanks

Touching a bp’s head and neck area... Why would you do it at all? you don’t need to "attack" a ball python during handleing. -note- By "attack" i meant a ball python thinks your trying to eat it when you touch its head.

Touching a bp’s head and neck area... I slowly worked my bp out of her head shyness because I’d rather not have a jittery jumpy head shy bp in the future. Also I decided it’d be good to get her over that incase in the future I have to touch her head and neck areas for care purposes, like say she needs medicines or I have to help substrate out of her mouth. It’d be more difficult if I’m trying to hold her head or mouth to help her, and she’s jumping and jerking away.I don’t think it’s wrong to work with your bp and get them over the head shy thing. It took me only a week(maybe 3 or 4 handlings) to get Pelota over her headshyness. All I did was gently and slowly pet and touch her neck area behind her head. Once she was fine with that, I later moved up to petting the top of her head. She only jerked away a few times. After that she was fine. Now the only thing that spooks her is fast unexpected movements.

Touching a bp’s head and neck area... Three of my balls have no problem with us touching their head. We worked them the same Pelota did by starting a couple inches behind their head and slowly moving up to their head. Our big girl still doesn’t like it but she is a rescue and we found out after we got her that the people who had her before us force fed her when she went off feed.

Touching a bp’s head and neck area... Normal handling and age will usually reduce head shyness on its own. No need to touch the head a bunch to get them used to it.
