DIABLO IS HOME
I am speechless!!! Well not really, or else i wouldnt be able to type.. But oh - my - goodness! Diablo my new bp, is GORGEOUS! He or she is about 18" long and is absolutely curious about the world!!! Right now the cage is being explored, he’s all stretch out flicking his tongue everywhere (good sign). Even when i handled him he was flicking his tongue, not assuming the ball position like when i first picked him up. Oh yeah, i did decide to take the mesh top at the store, i just covered half of it and the other half is exposed for the lamp. Oh gosh, i just cant get over Diablo!!! He’s stretching his body out right now, trying to find a way out of the cage, lol. Man, it truly is amazing to see them use their muscles like that. Well, now that Diablo’s home, i need pointers on how to create humidity. I’ve got a water bowl in there, and the lamp is on top of the lid. I’m thinking of checking into a heating pad. I don’t have a spray bottle, but perhaps i can just wet the sides of the tank? Or will the water bowl be enough with evaporation? Well anyhow, I’m going to go look at my new curious friend.

DIABLO IS HOME Hey do snakes yawn?? LOL mine did twice so i got to see his mouth, which looks clean and healthy. Also, he is VERY active, which i suppose would be normal, he’s constantly scanning the top for an exit, but settles down every few minutes to bask...

DIABLO IS HOME Congrats on the new ball python. To create more humidity I would get a spray bottle and mist the cage a couple time a day. They only need high humidity when they go into shed.

DIABLO IS HOME When you say yawn, I know you are talking about your snake opening its mouth fully. It is actually stretching its muscles, or trying to loosen its skin for an impending shed. My Constrictor does this occasionally. It usually starts doing this about 2 weeks prior to a shed, and about twice a day. Just watch it closely for signs of labored breathing. Make sure it is not breathing through an open mouth on a regular basis. This could be a sign of respiratory problems. If it is just stretching its muscles occasionally, it is nothing to worry about. Take advantage of these rare opportunities to check the condition of the inside of its mouth. It is a neat thing to observe. Congratulations on the new addition. Post pics. soon. We wanna see.
