Red belly pink or red belly is generally a sign of shedding or belly rot. if the cage is very moist there is a chance that it may be belly rot. to fix that simply dry out your baby. i would also recommend that you try walnut bedding, it is ground walnut shells and not very expensive. since i switched to that i have had no problems with moisture or mites, both of which tend to come from the wood beddings. hope your baby is fine though.

Red belly What kind of bark? If it is cedar or pine, CHANGE it IMMEDIATELY, pine and cedar is toxic to reptiles.

Red belly when they shed a little moisture is actually better. like a spray bottle mist to moisten them. it also helps for full sheds. but try the bedding it really is good stuff. is the cage bottom wet though??

Red belly not so true some of them say they are fine but like the other one said some are actuallt toxic and other are just not good. i have always had problems with wood but the walnut works great.

Red belly It could also be because it’s a fresh skin. Sorta like when humans peel a layer of dead skin, and the skin underneath is a fresh pinky color. I wouldn’t go nuts and go to a vet ASAP unless it stays pink/red after a day or so of watching it.

Red belly lol..... I didn’t say anything about you peeling a snakes skin. That can cause damage. I was just saying that maybe it’s like when a person has dead skin(like from a blister or sun burn) and they peel the skin off and the new skin is fresh and pink. So maybe when a snake sheds its skin, the new skin is pink for a day or two around the belly area. I’ve never looked close after a shed, so I’m not sure. I’m just trying to think outside the box here. That’s all.

Red belly No that isn’t bad. We have to peel some skin from the back of our big ball python girl nearly everytime she sheds. As long as it is ready to come off you’re not hurting her. Ours doesn’t seem to mind as she doesn’t pull away or get defensive when we do.

Red belly Yes, if you keep the area clean, keep them on clean papertowel or newspaper, and don’t keep the areas too wet for long periods of time, a shed or two can clear scale rot. I think....But honestly I don’t think your snake has scale rot or anything. I think it was what I mentioned. You said it’s clearing up already...so yeah. I haven’t seen your snake though, so it may be worse than you say. If you’re still worried, take it to a vet. Simple as that.

Red belly That’s probably what I’d do. But if it doesn’t get better, or gets worse or anything, I’d bring him to a vet then. Good luck. Hope it clears up on its own.
