Johnson Controls Thermostats Cool, same person I’m buying my flexwatt heat tape and thermostat from. Who are you on bp.net btw? Couldn’t figure that out, lol.(I’m pretty sure I remember you mentioning you being on bp.net too)Yep, if you get the one with the 6 outlet power strip, you just plug in all the devices you want to control, and set your temps up. That is if you want all the heat sources at the same temperatures. Oh, and here’s the one I’m going for. Ranco w/ Power Strip It’s currently on sale for 79.99 shipped with power strip. You might wanna check that out.

Johnson Controls Thermostats I think $80 for an On/Off style thermostat is bit pricey. You can get a ZooMed on/off thermostat with a probe for $35.00 or one without the probe for $15.00. They’re not as nice, but I would rather save a little more money for proportional thermostat rather than getting the Johnson Controls on/off one at that price.

This proportional thermostat looks descent Has anyone ever used this Herp Stat thermostat before? It’s a bit cheaper than a Helix DBS-1000 and they’re both proportional.

Johnson Controls Thermostats The Johnson controller will handle up to 1500 watts while the other is rated at 500 watts. That is the main reason for the price difference. Be careful that you do NOT over load an electrical circuit or the results could be catastrophic. Many many home burn down each year due to electrical overload.

Johnson Controls Thermostats Good point. I didn’t catch that. However, since you did... Unless you have a bunch of cages, why would you need 1500 watts? I believe most under tank heaters use something in the range 15-30 watts.

Johnson Controls Thermostats I myself am buying the more expensive thermostat because I see it as an investment. Sure, I’ll only be using it with one cage now, but in the not-so-distant future I plan on breeding, so having a good thermostat won’t hurt. That, and I generally don’t trust anything from ZooMed. From their heat pads, to their thermostats, to their bulbs.....I haven’t heard much good about them. Just my opinion though.

Johnson Controls Thermostats Next month I’m going to pick up a Helix or two. They’re the de facto standard in herp thermostats. If I only had $100 or less to spend I think I would go for the Herp Stat though.
