HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!!
hey all...i got my ball python, kali, about 10 months ago and she’s been great. i live in florida, so it is always quite warm and i only used a heating pad for her. anyway, i fed her two mice the other day and she regurgitated one that night and the other one the next night. i thought it may be due to the temperature dropping, so i got her a heat lamp today and have had it on ever since. i got a new mouse, but she won’t eat it! the man at the pet store said that if she didn’t eat soon, that she would die and i don’t want to be without her!! if she doesn’t eat tomorrow morning, i’m calling a vet. the last thing i want to do is lose kali on christmas. i was just wondering if anyone else had any suggestions?? thanks so much!

HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!! Ball Pythons can go 8 months plus without food, so I wouldn’t worry about losing her because she’s not eating. I would however like to find out why she’s had a sudden problem. I’d check my temp and humidity. Also it might be the prey you are offering her is too large. Are you feeding F/T or live? If you are feeding F/T, I’d offer live (remember when offering live food never walk away from the cage, not even for a second as the mouse/rat might harm her). Ball Pythons also sometimes go through winter time/mating season and fast. If you are really that worried, take her to the vet. Pet shop people can be stupid sometimes. Just because they work at a pet shop, doesn’t mean they know everything. Alot of pet shop people don’t know anything about snakes

HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!! If the snake is taking frozen thawed, why would you recommend feeding live?....I’m not sure why your snake regurgitated it’s meals, but I do know that you should’nt keep offering it food so many times after the regurge. A regurge is quite stressful on a bp, and it takes them a while to build up the stomach acid that they regurgitated. I’d think you’re just stressing the snake out more by offering it food so soon and often after the regurge. I recommend you wait a week or so, then try offering it a meal. As for why it regurged, it could have been a number of reasons. It could have internal parasites or other illnesses. It could be stressed out from a recent change in it’s environment(did you change anything in its cage? change the heat drastically? anything like that). You could have handled it too soon after eating(give your snake atleast 2 days to digest before handling), the prey items could have been too big(feed 1 prey item that’s the width of the widest part of your snake). etc. etc. I’d also suggest that if the problem persists, you make a vet appointment and get her some help. As for the pet store person telling you the snake will die if it doesn’t eat soon, that just shows how knowledgable the pet store people are. I would never take advice from someone at a pet store, unless they breed and/or are very knowledgable with reptiles. I’ve yet to meet one that is, sadly.

HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!! My take was the recomendation to feed live would be because maybe the frozen thawed she regurgitated was not thawed out enough and this was the cause of her throwing it up. A ball python would also have to be a pretty good weight to make it 8 months without food but i would not be concerned if yours misses a few meals, especially in the winter months. Pelota is right that it could be parasites or it could have just been the temp drop..or like i said before...your mistake in the temp of the ft food. Get the snake checked out and wormed. Good luck.

Update
just wanted to update everyone...i took kali to a vet yesterday and he seemed pretty positive that she would be ok. he figured that she regurgitated due to the cold nights we had here in florida. she seemed ok and he said to wait 2 weeks and then feed her... so she had a chance to get used to the new heat lamp. he gave her some medicine for her mites, as well. last night, kali seemed to be doing fine. she even looked a bit hungry, which got my spirits up thinking that maybe i’d even try to feed her in the next few days if she was like that. sadly, i got up this morning and my kali had died :-( i don’t know what happened, but i put a call into the vet right away. i’m waiting for him to call him back rest in peace, kali. you will be missed :-(

Update
I’m really sorry to hear this! I wonder if it was parasites! It wouldn’t be from hunger as they can go months without eating (while not good, they can). Please let us know what the vet said!
