Ball pythons can suck down huge rats. Thats how i power feed my females to get them to breeding size. They love it. I feed live and always have. Just get some hemostats because when you try to thump them they come after you squeaking and squealing. And they bite hard. Whack em a couple times till there out cold and thn dangle it in front of your snake. I know a lot of ppl prefer not to feed live but a rat has never bitten any of my snakes.
JJ
P.S. it might be better to feed F/T Because rats can get fiesty and scary. And less possibility of injury for you and your snake.

Maleeh, your snake should probably be eating large mice or very small rats but give it large mice for now. Do not power feed your snake. To raise the humidity try misting the cage twice a day or maybe even three times. Right now, I assume you are Christmas break from school, mist it fairly often. When you go back to school, mist it when you leave in the morning, when you come home in the afternoon and at bedtime. That should work.

I don’t like keeping my substrate wet either. But I find that spraying the sides of the cage will raise the humidity for a while. The little beads of water stay on the sides and keep the humidity up to 80% all day for me. Then I just spray again at night. That’s what I’m doing currently since my ball is going into shed. But I’m using reptibark, and I don’t use a heat lamp, so my tank doesn’t dry up as fast as some peoples.

Oh, and as I mentioned in the other post where you asked about rat sizes, my ball is 4-5 inches around like yours, and she was taking weaned rats like nothing. Just last week I gave her a 55 gram small rat and she took it down and had a small, slightly noticable bulge in her stomach afterwards, which is perfect size.

Do you have an under tank heater? I just have a human heat pad on low or medium and it keeps my warm side between 88-94. I don’t like using heat lamps as the only source for heat. Dries the tank out and stuff.

Use whichever you prefer, but I strongly recommend you get a thermostat as well. Heat pads have the potential to overheat and can burn or kill your snake.
I usually chose human heating pads because they’re less expensive than reptile ones, but now I find that the cheapest method of under tank heating is heat tape. I can get a 2 foot by 1 foot piece of flexwatt heat tape for 12 bucks wired. 7 if I wire it myself.
