How Much Humidity?? Move the aspen to another room. Then go to WalMart and buy a humidifier and put it in the room your snake is in. The increase in humidity in the room will be good for the people in there too. My wife has problems with nose bleed when the humidity drops which is this time of the year and we have a humidifier in the bedroom to help us. I don’t know how much the aspen in the tank is soaking up humidity but you could try changing it out and using newspaper until you get a handle on the problem. Also, if I remember correctly, you are using a heat lamp. If so, move the water dish under the heat lamp. This may help some but probably not enough since you do have fairly low humidity. Other than that mist the cage well.

How Much Humidity?? Just leave the Aspen in there. I doubt that any of the other stuff would hold any more humidity that the Aspen. But, see if you can a humidifier in the next week or so. I know that we should all try to keep the humidity and temperatures as perfect as we can there are times when situations arise that keep us from doing so for a few days or so. Just keep misting the cage as often as necassary and try to get the humidifier before your Christmas break is over. Good luck.

How Much Humidity?? use newspaper or paper towel as a substrate, its cheap and there is no problems associated with it. get a biugger water bowl and place in the tank. or get a shallow bowl so the water evaporates easily ad change it daily.

How Much Humidity?? as long as the viv humidity is above 40 then a hide would be fine, just check the humidity does not go above 75%ish as this could lead to problems. hope this helps.

How Much Humidity?? Ace13, you need to do some research on Africa. While it is true that about 40% of the continent is desert much of the rest is rain forest and that is the area that Ball Pythons come from. In the wild they do have a lot of humdity so they need it in captivity. I believe is trying to reproduce as nearly as we can the same climate that animals have in the wild.

How Much Humidity?? Most bp’s are found in the grasslands on the outskirts of the forest. Only a small percent are actually found in the jungle/forest.As for comparing bp’s in the wild to bp’s in captivity...I really hate to do that. When we keep them in captivity we want to keep them stress free, healthy, and big. In the wild, you can find them very malnourished and thin, with bad sheds and battle scars. I’m not exactly sure, but I could probably give a decent guess that they don’t shed as well in the wild as they do in captivity. So we must be doing something right with the humidity we give them. (I’m saying "we" as in the keepers in general who follow the same basic rules with humidity)
