Whistling?! Hello All! I just recently got a ball and I was wondering if it is normal for them to make a whistling sound? I do know they will hiss sometimes, but this was a definite whistle... could it be a sign of a respiratory infection? Thanks!

Whistling?! They should not whistle and it does I think that a respiratory infection is a definate possiblity. If you have a vet in the area that can treat reptiles take to him asap. Also, increase the hot side temps in the cage to 90 ~95 if you have not already done so.

Whistling?! Absolutely... Whistling is never a good sign. Get the humidity and temps up quickly.

Whistling?! I have read that too but I have never heard any of mine may any sound at all at any time. I try to keep a close check on them when they are in a shed so I can keep the humidity in their cages up so I would have probably noticed it if they had.

Whistling?! That could be a possibility then, cause he is sheding now, and I only heard him whistle twice, right after I had him soaking in the sink...

Whistling?! Ah, I’d guess it was that then. It may have had water in the nostrils or something. Or they can sometimes make a whistling noise when they’re in shed because the skin around the nostrils comes loose and stuff.Any other signs of a respiratory infection? Is your snake breathing with it’s mouth open? Any clear liquids or mucous around the nose or mouth? Does your snake seem to keep it’s head upwards to breathe? From what you’ve told us, I’d say it’s just from the shed/soaking. But if you want to be sure, a checkup with a vet couldn’t hurt....except maybe a little stress on the snake.
